How to convince my parents to get a cell phone?

Hi everyone!! ^^' I'm twelve years old, I'm in 8th grade (I skipped a class) and I really want to convince my parents to get me a phone! I know what you're going to say: "At 12, it's not useful! In my day..." but it is useful and we're no longer in the 20th century! Phones are practical means of communication! Anyway, I’d like to find arguments without overwhelming them, but I'm struggling to do so!
Please help me!

Tell them if I miss the bus I can call you if something happens I can call you and to talk to my girlfriend (if you have one) :) and besides I look like a loser

  Yes, thanks :), but the problem is that I don't take public transportation... I really want to have a phone to mainly send texts to my friends... And then the argument "all my friends have one" just doesn't work...

I am WolfStronger’s grandfather.

My son is absolutely right.
I am glad that I have managed to pass on at least a minimum of common sense to him. This common sense must endure among my grandchildren.

At 12 years old, my grandson does not need a mobile phone at all. It is just a pure whim. The need to "appear" in front of his friends. He has not yet understood that such artifices are unnecessary. But it will come.

If a 12-year-old wants to stand out, he just needs to shine through his academic results and his behavior with his friends, family, classmates, and neighbors.

Do you understand that, Mr. "WolfStronger"?

Now, you are going to do your homework, review your lessons, and in the future, present results worthy of your parents and grandparents.

If you find yourself bored, feeling a bit aimless sometimes, pick up a good book and enhance your knowledge.

If you need to move around, go help those around you.

Text messages are useful when you have urgent and helpful things to say. They are not meant for saying "Hi. How are you?" or "Are you already in bed?" ...

I am counting on you to honor your family without needing a completely useless toy at your age.

Hi, I'm 14 years old. Anyway, could you tell them that if you finish classes earlier, you could call them (unless you're an external student)? As for your friends, tell them that if I'm ever sick, I would like to have the lessons and the homework. Also, mention that one of your best friends is moving away, and you would like to stay in touch with him and everything.

Tell mom and dad that if you're absent one day when there's school and there are homework assignments you haven't noted, you can ask your friends who went to school, for example; if you take the bus one day and there are issues, you can call them, etc.

Why do they refuse?

Do your parents refuse to let you have a cell phone? They probably have a reason. Your age, for instance. In my opinion, before 12/13 years old (and even then...), a cell phone is unnecessary. You don't know many people, you might not pay much attention to it, and it's easier to get it stolen or lose it. Perhaps they think you don't really need it? If you can prove its usefulness to them, show them that you need it, they will likely give in. Of course, you need to have valid arguments and a real necessity; otherwise, it's normal for them to refuse. A cell phone is quite expensive, and the subscription too; it's understandable that they wouldn't want to spend money on something that wouldn't serve you.

Otherwise, propose a deal, like paying part of the phone or the plan. There are plenty of affordable plans available now. If it's really the price that's bothering them, you could try to find someone in your circle who might be selling an old phone at a low price and would agree to sell it to you. You could also help them out in exchange, like tidying your room regularly, doing chores around the house, or the dishes, etc. Or you could receive that phone as a reward, for example, by achieving a certain average at the end of the term/year, if you pass your exams, or get a certain mention. Why not take advantage of the upcoming holidays to ask for a phone on that occasion?
