Screen replacement, black/gray screen

Hello everyone, I would like to ask for your help with a little computer issue.
Since I'm not a virtuoso in this area, I would like to understand..
First, I broke the screen of my laptop by stepping on it. Then, I ordered a new panel for the same computer.
Before installing it, the computer started normally, even with a big crack on the screen. Then, I changed the panel, thinking I would fix the issue.
When I restarted the PC after installing the new panel, the PC turns on, but stays stuck on a (gray) screen, which shows that the screen is functional but that there is another issue.
The screen remains frozen, nothing happens, everything is gray/black.
No sound appears, even after 10 minutes, the fan is running normally, without excess, but nothing shows up. So I am stuck, I don't know what to do, I have already tried the little tricks of removing the battery, pressing for 10 seconds, all that, but nothing works, so I would like your advice. Thank you in advance!!! :3

Well, actually yes, I have the same slab... but I would like to understand something. Do I need to connect something to the board? Because I haven't done this; I simply touched the slab, the connections at the back of the slab, but nothing with the motherboard. So if I need to make a connection, that’s most likely the problem :3

After connecting to another screen, no image appears on it... (no video input).

No, the motherboard is always located beneath the keyboard; it connects all the components. Try connecting your PC to an external monitor; otherwise, it seems like an incompatibility between your panel and the inverter. Did you order the same reference as the old panel?

Back to the issue and sorry for the delay, I had a screen:

    PRO08031 LCD/LED panel 17.3 - Resolution 1600 x 900 (WXGA ++)
    FOR HP PAVILION G7

and I bought a new screen:

LED Screen Panel 17.3" for HP Compaq PAVILION G7-2340sf WXGA 1600x900

The problem likely comes from there, an incompatibility?

So, the problem is that I haven't touched the motherboard at all, I've just changed the screen panel and so the ribbons don't touch the motherboard :3
I don't really know how it works, but from what you're saying, they should reach the motherboard?
    (Sorry, I'm a newbie ><)
== New thing, the computer screen turns gray for a few seconds (screen on) and then becomes almost black, and then becomes slightly lighter, as if it is affecting the screen brightness. I think it goes through the normal Windows boot phases, since in the end, the F12 key turns blue, so it's active, which I believe is airplane mode. I don't know why >< and sorry if I'm not very clear.)

Or maybe it's just me who doesn't really understand, but... is the motherboard located in the screen? Because I haven't reconnected anything inside the PC (I mean underneath the keyboard), and I haven't unplugged anything inside either... I just changed the screen and reconnected the bezels. :3

    Hi,
Make sure you have connected all the cables properly, connect the connector to the motherboard (you should have two parts to connect to the motherboard if you have a built-in webcam) then connect the cable to the panel. On this same cable, you need to connect another part to the inverter.

Don't forget to remove the battery and perform a power reset (press the power button for 45 seconds) to avoid burning out your inverter.

Let me know if it works.

If you only unplugged the cable from the old screen and reconnected it to the new one, the issue shouldn't be coming from there. I recommend using an air blower on your PC to see if that helps.

Are you sure you don't have any image on your external screen? Is it not a bad setting?
Otherwise, the problem is not with the screen but with the graphics card.

It's likely to be the graphics card; I will run a small test this afternoon, reconnect the old monitor that was working, even if it's cracked, to see where the problem is coming from. I will give you my conclusion; thank you for your help already.

Or the purchased slab is defective...

The problem is either with the screen or the ribbon cable. To rule out the ribbon cable, you need to test the old screen. It's cracked, but if you connect it, is there an image?

Otherwise, the issue is with the screen, in which case I would advise you to contact a customer service to have the screen replaced. You can ask them how much it would cost. Personally, they replaced the screen for around fifty euros at my place, so it’s not a lost cause.

So before I got the new screen.

The screen was working (even cracked) but at one point, it stopped working; I simply thought that the screen couldn't take it anymore.
I changed the screen, and it was gray, black.

I put the old screen back, and it was showing stripes, then stayed blue, gray...

In the end, I think the problem doesn't come from the screen. What do you think?

The only solution would be to test your PC on an external display, but you told me that it didn't work. Are you sure you selected the correct source, or do you not have a flat-screen TV? Normally, all TVs today have a VGA input.

Otherwise, it would indeed be quite silly for the problem to come from the panel, but it remains possible. Try moving the cable behind the screen to see if it's not a loose connection.

      The problem could be:

      - Either the graphics card is dead (which doesn't seem logical since your problem occurred due to a physical accident)

      - Or your new panel is dead (again, this doesn't seem logical since it's new)

      - Or your cable is dead or improperly connected (which seems the most likely since you could have disconnected it a bit from the motherboard while installing the new panel, or from repeatedly closing and opening your lid, it could have torn)

      Keep me updated.

I just had the same problem...
      - Reconnect the display cable with the PC already powered on.
      - Wait 5 minutes, then restart the PC by pressing CTRL+ALT+DEL.
