Hello
I bought a PC from LDLC with the following configuration:
Intel Core i5 4430 @3GHz
8 GB RAM DDR 3 1600MHz GSkill
MSI motherboard
MSI GTX660 Twin Frozr 3 N660 OC
1TB HDD 7200rpm
LDLC 400W PSU 80+ Bronze
With this PC, the game Batman Arkham Origins was included as a promotion. I downloaded the game using the Steam code provided by NVIDIA, but the problem is that the game crashes systematically after a certain time (Batman ... has stopped working or system BSOD crash) and when I launch it again the game lags to the point of being unplayable.
I have already reinstalled Windows 7 and all drivers are up to date (as well as all Windows updates).
I have a few ideas about where the problem might come from, but if anyone could give me a solution, I would be grateful.
Maybe an incompatibility with my controller (Xbox controller S with XBCD drivers)
Maybe a sound issue (I know this may have no connection, but every time I want to restart Windows, I get a message saying that Windows cannot restart because a program is still open: sound playback. I play on my TV, and the sound comes through the HDMI port of the graphics card.)
Maybe overheating, but I haven't touched the PC (I use the cooler provided by INTEL, but if I don't overclock it should be sufficient, right?)
Thanks in advance for your solutions.

I encountered the same problems as you. I have no solutions to offer, but I want to share my experience.
I also downloaded the game on Steam (given with my GTX660) what a gift!!! I'm about 25% into the game and I can't count the freezes and other collision bugs that forced me to restart the game.
Many people are experiencing the same issues on consoles.
The problem clearly comes from the game itself and certainly not from the CPU temperatures (if that were the case, Windows would crash).
Just have to wait for THE update. Pfffffffffff!!!!! -
The message I wrote earlier doesn't appear !!! It seems that the website "comment ça marche" does not publish messages containing certain keywords.
To answer your question, the game runs on ultra with the GTX660.
For your information, I also use an Xbox 360 controller like you.
If the problem is the same with other games, it could be either a hardware problem or a software problem.
In your case, it seems more like a software issue. A hardware problem is characterized by physical symptoms other than yours. Especially since you seem to have a sufficient configuration to run the most demanding games.
Regarding temperature, according to the product specifications, your processor can reach 72.72°C without any issues, so no worries on that front.
For the program that refuses to close when shutting down Windows, you can try the following trick that allows you to force the closure of stubborn programs more quickly:

But I don't think there is a direct link to the crashes of applications like games.
Are you using an unofficial version of Windows?
Unofficial versions of Windows can cause bugs with sound card drivers, graphics card drivers, etc., as well as with other software.
I'm asking you this because I've experienced it with my graphics card drivers (display issues) as well as with my network card (random disconnections).
I hope I was able to help you or at least shed some light. -

CPUID HMMonitor to check your temperatures.
Your setup should normally run the game well above 60fps (smooth gaming).
A true mystery, but it's probably due to the temperature. -
Thank you for your response. I downloaded Game Booster yesterday to close all the background programs, and it seemed to work. I will test it again tonight. As for the temperatures, I haven't had time to check, but I saw that in idle, the processor was between 40° and 50°. In the end, I think I was mistaken; the cooler provided by Intel is not sufficient.

Well, with Game Booster today it worked longer than usual, but I had some FPS drops without it being unplayable. I don't understand where the problem might come from.
For the temperatures, I reach a maximum of 60°C and 40°C at idle, so the problem doesn't seem to come from there.
Thank you in advance for your help.
Edit: I still have the message saying that the sound playback process is running in the background and that Windows cannot restart. -
I don't use an official version of Windows; I even tried it on Windows 8, but I have the same problem. Now, whenever I launch a game or run a test on 3DMark, the PC crashes to a colored screen. I tested these with my old 8800GT, and the PC doesn't crash.
Thank you for your help; it's really helping me ;) -
