Hello everyone,

Here I am, coming to you with a baffling problem with uTorrent.

I have 2 computers at home. uTorrent is installed on both. Everything was working fine until 2 weeks ago. Then, all of a sudden....

Issue :

- It works on one computer (Windows 7)
- It no longer works on Windows 8 (Avast, drivers up to date, it was working before)

Solutions attempted :

- Uninstalling uTorrent with CCleaner, removing registry keys, reinstalling = Nothing
- Suspected error = Issue with the tracker socket (No port issues, otherwise it wouldn't work on the other computer...)
- No specific solution for my issue found online

I am with Orange, my Livebox is a Sagemcom Livebox 2 FR, I have Avast as antivirus and Windows 8 in 64 bits.

I don't understand........thank you in advance for your replies.

The problem is that Utorrent no longer works on my computer, whereas it was fine two weeks ago.

It works on another one, which eliminates the port opening issue.

There you go.

But it doesn't work anymore... It doesn't even open?
When you click on the icon, nothing happens?

If you've already tried uninstalling and reinstalling it, have you thought about removing the software residues in Appdata?

It opens, but no download starts.
It's looking for "peers" without finding them (the sources, I think), and I know it's a "time error socket" issue. I've seen it with another software, AERIS.

It's as if it can't connect to the server, while it works on another computer. So I allow myself to rule out any port issues.

I have no idea what could be causing this.
I'll try the leftovers in appdata, and I'll get back to you as soon as I've done that.

No effect for the appdata folder.
However, when I look at the download errors, I find the following messages:

- DHT = not allowed
- Local client search = not allowed
- Peer exchange = not allowed
- (torrent URL) = an attempt to access a socket in a manner prohibited by its access permissions has been attempted.

It seems like it's trying to find the path to the torrent, but it can't find it.

I don't really see, I don't need to open 2 µTorrents so I've never had this problem!

That's fine, thanks anyway. I'll keep looking in that case.

I think it must be due to a Windows 8 update, which might have caused me to lose access to the tracker.

But at worst, ask on your tracker forum; it’s much simpler!

Thank you for the idea !!!!!
I found out that the cause of my issue was Malwarebytes!!!!
I added my tracker to the exceptions, and it works again!!!!

Ahh yes!! It's true that Malwarebytes doesn't like that very much :)
