VLC freezes along with PC

Hello Sugel. That's what I did twice by downloading VLC through the commentçàmarche website.

My apologies once again, the latest version of VLC is indeed 2.1.0 Rincewind. VLC does not upgrade directly from version 2.0.8 to version 2.1.0 Rincewind via the update request; you therefore need to download the latest version, follow the standard installation process, the previous version will uninstall itself and the new one will then be set up.

Sorry for the initial incorrect information.

What method and software did you use to detect that there were no viruses or malware on your PC?

I have the version of VLC (2.0.8) on my old XP Pro, and it poses me no issues regarding the playback of video and audio files.

I’m actually going to update to version (2.1.0) and see if it causes me any problems.

My bad, the latest effective version of VLC is indeed 2.0.8, I've just checked and VLC tells me I have the latest version.

A bit late, but better late than never ;-)

I suggest you uninstall VLC, run Ccleaner, and follow the tutorial closely, especially the part concerning the registry.

If you're not sure about the Ccleaner manipulations in the registry, let me know and I will guide you step by step.

Then, download VLC >>>HERE<<<.

Don't pay attention to the version; in the CCM download bank, it states that it's version 2.1.0, but that's incorrect, it's still version 2.0.8.

Hello to both of you. For stargate43, I don't remember which site I downloaded VLC from, but it wasn't from the sites to totally avoid (Softonic and onet1). I often go through commentçamarche to download.
I used Ccleaner that I have on my computer. Then I downloaded VCL. After trying it out, the movie is no longer blocked, but the image has vertical bars.
