Hello everyone!
I recently bought an HP Pavilion dv6000 laptop with that %&@* Vista installed.
I wanted to partition my 160 GB disk, but no partitioning software works with Vista, and I didn't want to pay 50 euros just to make 1 partition.... The partitioning program included in Vista doesn't satisfy me (it doesn't allow a partition smaller than 70 GB for the system partition)....
HP no longer provides installation discs, everything is on a small 5 GB partition on the laptop's hard drive, and if we reinstall everything, the installation formats everything, including the partitions created by Vista's partitioning program, and merges all those partitions... :-(
Also, half of the programs I used are not compatible with that £$% Vista....
I tried to install XP from the CD at startup, but it tells me "the system could not find a hard drive on the machine" or something like that.....
In short, I would like to install XP, but my question is this: does anyone know how to uninstall Vista to reinstall XP instead, or to install them concurrently from Vista???? Because I'm losing patience with Vista.....
THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU in advance......

Hello
I’ll summarize: you want to get rid of Vista and reinstall XP
you have the XP CD but it doesn’t want to boot?
You need to explain first to the PC to start from the CD and not from the HDD
this is done in the BIOS setup (usually accessible during startup by repeatedly pressing del (or delete))
you will find somewhere a thing like boot priority or boot order
set your DVD/CD drive as the first option
save the changes and reboot with the XP CD in the drive
in principle, it should work fine

It works, I just finished
you just have to uncheck SATA in the BIOS and we can finally install XP instead of Vista - thanks HP for the information withholding!!!!!!

Once XP is installed on my HP dv6299ea laptop, several peripherals do not work. The automatic driver update does not solve the problem. I am still missing 7 essential drivers to activate PCI devices (notably the sound card). I have thoroughly scanned tools on "touslesdrivers.com or drivershq.com" but nothing works. Can someone help me urgently????
Thanks in advance
Thanks in advance
For the BIOS, you press escape at startup, you navigate down with the arrows, you confirm and go to the system configuration tab, there you disable SATA.
For the drivers, I found the solution: on the HP website, you download all the drivers for the same model as yours but with a 0: let me explain, I have a 9268 and I downloaded the drivers for the 9068. According to another forum, HP replaced the 0 with a 2 for models with Vista. I did it this way and it works great, finally I can enjoy the machine!!!
Good luck to you all

Hi,

I don’t want to shed any tears, but you’re in trouble with this setup... "HP Pavilion dv6000 laptop" = OEM restoration system.

Hello
I also want to get rid of Vista on an Acer 9302 to reinstall XP Pro Media Center 2005, is it possible?
I plan to format the hard drive after backing up the MBR with Editexha and creating an image with True Image, hoping to be able to reinstall Vista in case of problems, and thus install XP.
If okay (?) is it possible to reset the "Orbicam Bison" built into this PC?
I can do without Vista
Thank you for your response.

I've already done it, but it doesn't work... :-(
The system tells me "no hard drive found, please check that the drive is connected."

Is Windows Vista running too slowly and you’re tired of waiting all the time?
Do you think Vista is a really poorly made system? The reasons are not lacking; Vista is awful.
So do like these big companies and go back to XP, see https://www.zdnet.fr/actualites/microsoft-contraint-de-redistribuer-windows-xp-39373612.htm
Often you don’t know how to go back to XP.
I advise you to first check this tutorial http://www.commentcamarche.net/faq/sujet 5249 install windows xp on a sata drive
Because XP does not recognize the original hard drives in SATA.
I therefore recommend everyone read this tutorial.
After that, I also advise you to change the boot order in your BIOS so that the XP installation CD can launch automatically.
I recommend reading this tutorial http://forum.telecharger.01net.com/forum/
As for the boot order configuration, set the CD drive as the first.
If it still doesn't work, don't hesitate to mess with the BIOS (to access the BIOS press the 'delete' key at startup).
In case of problems in the BIOS restore the changes to defaults ^^
Then if you don’t find the option "disable native SATA support" in the BIOS
Don’t panic, all computers are different, so it is normal that this modification option is not available on all PCs.
In that case, look for a similar option in the BIOS or install the SATA drivers as per the cccm tutorial.
Now if you have managed to install XP and you can’t find the drivers for XP.
Start by going to the manufacturer’s website of your computer; for example, for a Compaq computer go to http://www.compaq.fr/ and search for the drivers for XP.
If certain drivers are not available and are only for Vista, it is due to (shameful) agreements between Microsoft and the manufacturer.
If you have drivers that are not available for XP, try installing the drivers for Vista.
A good portion of "made for" Vista drivers work on XP.
Then if you still can’t find the drivers.
I recommend using software.
Why use software?
In fact, this software automatically recognizes the hardware present on your computer.
Then all you have to do is go to the manufacturer’s website of the hardware.
For example, if you’re missing the drivers for an ATI graphics card, this software will indicate that to you.
Go to ATI's website to download the drivers ^^
Here is the software that I highly recommend installing for your driver search: https://www.01net.com/telecharger/windows/Utilitaire/optimiseurs_et_tests/fiches/308.html
Useful links for Windows XP.
If you want to stay in control of your computer and have it start quickly, this tutorial is for you https://openclassrooms.com/fr/courses
Tired of the outdated look of XP? You want to customize XP; this tutorial will allow you to give XP a new look https://openclassrooms.com/fr/courses
I hope I have helped you.
Good luck ++

Hello,
Hi everyone ^^
I left a message above where you could contact me.
Following the numerous emails received, I will detail the procedure for switching from Vista to XP without too much difficulty.
It would be great if someone decided to create a tutorial explaining how to switch from Vista to XP.
Here’s the procedure
1) Preparation
-Get the Windows XP installation CD; you can easily make a copy of the XP CD on eMule.
-Get a valid installation key; you will find it on the back of computers on the sticker, yes yes, look closely ^^
-Back up your data because to install XP, mandatory formatting is required {it’s a shame that Microsoft prevented multi-booting :( }
2) Let's get serious.
-Insert the XP CD into the CD drive and normally the CD will launch automatically.
If it doesn't, go to the BIOS (F10 at startup or Del most often) on startup and change the boot order of the devices, putting the CD first.
-After the CD has loaded, you have two options:
\1\ XP recognizes the hard drive and you're lucky, so you can go to repair (R) and format using the command "format c:" then install XP after a restart.
\2\ XP does not recognize your hard drive and informs you that there is no hard drive, tough luck.
But it's, as Microsoft would say, "normal"; in fact, your hard drive operates in SATA and the XP installation CD cannot read data on SATA hard drives.
So you need to change and disable via the motherboard configuration (BIOS) the fact that the computer sends a signal in SATA that the XP installation CD doesn’t understand.
There are two solutions: first, try to check the BIOS (F10 at startup or Del most often) and see if there is a function allowing you to disable native SATA management; check your BIOS documentation and the manufacturer of your motherboard (for laptops, go to the manufacturer's website for more help). I know it’s really tedious to consult official documentation, and it’s not clear.
Otherwise, try to rummage around in the BIOS; really, look everywhere. In case of a problem, restore the default settings.
If after rummaging for a long time in your BIOS, it turns out that there is no option to disable native SATA support or in English...
This is really annoying, I won't hide it from you.
Try to update and get the very latest version of the XP installation CD.
But in 95% of cases, the solution is in the BIOS, and there is definitely an option that disables SATA supported directly by the BIOS and without drivers; Compaq, HP, and the like call this option when the BIOS language is set to French:
"désactiver la prise en charge du SATA nativement".
If there really is no such option, try updating your BIOS.
If you still don’t find a solution, search and Google will be your best friend ^^
Alright, I wish you good luck and see you next time.
In case of a major issue and after having performed ALL the operations detailed above, you can contact me here http://lordium.free.fr/forum-2/contact
I WILL NOT RESPOND TO ANY UNDETAILED REQUESTS THAT DO NOT SPECIFY YOUR PROBLEM AND WHAT IS BLOCKING YOU.
A message saying help me I can’t install XP will get deleted straight away; I’m willing to help, but there needs to be a minimum of detail.
Good luck

Hello, nothing could be easier as long as you have the XP installation CD (and not the recovery CD).
When starting the computer, you need to go to the setup (F2, Delete, Escape... depending on the type of BIOS), you will see it on the startup screen, then go to boot sequence or boot priority or... and choose the CD-ROM instead of the hard drive.
If your hard drive is not recognized, look carefully and read to set it to auto-detection. Save and exit (generally F10...)
2 Restart the computer and follow the instructions; I recommend creating 2 partitions in case you want to install XP later.

Hello, I have a brand new Acer computer with Vista for my son, but none of these games (old games) work. But removing Vista is a hassle. Following your advice, I will try and keep you updated if it works.
OK, I managed to format Vista on my Acer computer through the BIOS, and for now, I'm trying to install 98. To be continued.

There's a solution that we don't always think of to help explore the BIOS. It's to take photos and upload them on cjoint.com or any other site that allows this. Then just post the link here, that way there's a chance we can help more.

Vista is great, but it's those who use only Word on it who say that; when you want to play or do something else, it's more difficult.
