AMD Radeon HD 7500-7600M graphics card not recognized

Hello everyone!

I have an HP Probook 4740s (i7 3632QM 2.2GHz processor, Radeon HD 7500-7600M + Intel Graphics HD, Windows 8 64-bit) that I received last week.

Not being a fan of the latest Windows OS, I decided to switch to Windows 7 64-bit Pro that I owned, ensuring that everything was compatible. The installation went smoothly, all the drivers installed correctly except for the graphics cards.

Indeed, I have tried multiple ways to find a working Catalyst driver for my AMD card, but every time Catalyst installs, it does not detect the card. In the Device Manager, under the graphics card tab, there is the standard VGA graphics card and another slot that shows either:
-a 2nd standard VGA graphics card that does not work (error code 10) (when Catalyst is not installed)
-Radeon HD 7500-7600M that does not work (error code 43) (when Catalyst is installed)

I have tried many different drivers, whether those offered by driver detection sites (tld.com) or by manufacturer sites such as HP or AMD.
Additionally, with each new attempt, I make sure to thoroughly remove any trace of old drivers (disk cleanup, registry cleaning).

The Intel card is not working either; I am also encountering installation issues with the driver.

If anyone has solutions or advice to give me, I am all ears, as I am already spending way too much time trying to solve all this...

Configuration: Windows 7 / Chrome 29.0.1547.76

It's good, I was able to test the 2 cards, they work with the latest driver uploaded by HP. They can indeed "switch" between each other according to the open programs.
Indeed, they should not have been updated from the manufacturers' GPU websites.

    Hello

First, take a look at this: http://www.commentcamarche.net/faq/28128-mythes-le-pilote-graphique-de-mon-portable-est-chez-ati-nvidia
And you'll understand part of your problem. You will only find the right driver on the HP website.

Additionally, with each new attempt, I make sure to completely remove any trace of old drivers (disk cleanup, registry).

And now, the second part of your problem. You should never use third-party driver cleaning software; it’s the best way to mess up the registry. Given all the errors you’re encountering, the cause is clear.....Reinstallation is mandatory.
Especially since you have two graphics chips, the Intel for 2D display and it's supposed to automatically switch to the AMD for 3D.
It’s the driver that manages that.

So, if you installed W7, then installed the driver available on the AMD site, it’s a no-go. You should have taken the one from HP (if it exists for W7.....)

The simplest solution: Restore the factory backup of W8, on October 17th, a major update will be available, and it will function almost identically to W7; in any case, it will be adjustable in the same way.
A little patience. And everything will work fine.

    Hello,

    thank you for the response!

I reinstalled Windows, reinstalled the GPU driver from the HP website and it worked; the driver seemed to function properly; I detected both switchable cards.

But a few hours later, upon restarting, only the Intel Graphics HD driver was functioning, the other one (AMD Catalyst Control Center) indicated that it was not up to date, at least that Catalyst was not compatible with the version of the installed driver.

So I reinstalled the same Intel + AMD driver pack provided by HP successfully; so far I haven't had any compatibility issues. However, the versions of the drivers do not seem to be up to date. Should I then update them even if Windows does not detect anything obsolete?

PS: I haven't had the time to test the ATI/AMD card yet, is it possible to configure it to be always active without having to assign: "this program --> this card for this one"?

"Is it therefore better to update them from the AMD/Intel sites even if Windows does not detect anything outdated?"

If it didn't work the first time with the AMD driver, you shouldn't update it.
