Hello everyone!
So, I have a Windows XP (formerly Home Edition but it had a problem), and I have a big issue with the MTP Device. I bought an MP3 player and when I connect it, the computer runs the new device wizard. Unfortunately, there's always a problem during the installation. I would like to know how to fix this issue.
Thank you in advance for your replies.
Bye!

Hello everyone
I'm having trouble connecting my MP3 player to my Win XP PC. It's a Creative Zen 30 GB. The name of the player appears in a bubble near the system icons and then is replaced by MTP DEVICE. The task manager indicates a high resource consumption by "SERVICE" and MTP Device (portable device) with a point of exclamation "!" that appears and disappears in the device manager. Apart from this overconsumption, nothing else happens.
I uninstalled and reinstalled the drivers from the supplied CD, I installed Windows Format SDK (read in another forum) but nothing works. Is the Windows Format 11 runtime the higher version equivalent of Windows Format 11 SDK or Windows Media Player 11? I observed that they have the same capacity, well...
Recently, I installed software for iPod, PSP, ActiveSync (4.5) and Bitdefender 10.
I've had issues with Windows Installer, Framework.net, and Windows Update, which have been repaired.
The data from the System Event Viewer finds the following error: in chronological order
1- MTP WPD Driver has failed to start. Error 0x80070005
And the following information:
2- WPDClassInsta. Drivers were successfully installed for device USB\Vid_041e&Pid_413e&Rev_0100
3- WPDClassInsta. It was not possible to access the device () after installing drivers. Error code 0x80070651.
Have you also installed any of these applications before noticing this problem? Or performed these manipulations?
This issue must have happened to other external device users; I tried to cast a wide net, so if you have the same issue or have an idea that could help us... feel free to post.
Thanks to all.

In the list of drivers to download, you should choose: mass storage instead of MTP;

I have the same problem connecting my Nexus 7 tablet to the computer, which tells me that an error has occurred.
At home, after installing WMP 11, I still had the same problem: MTP device driver not installed.
I solved the problem by going to My Computer > Manage > Services and Applications > Services and enabling the Removable Storage service (which I also set to start automatically).
Hope it helps

I'm sending you the link and try it, it worked for me
my PC immediately recognized my player and it's working great

I’m arriving long after the battle, but well...
Well, I just downgraded from Vista (which was starting to wear me out but automatically recognized my Zen V) and I encountered the same problem... which has just been resolved...
I found a good solution by searching for the error message from Windows (error... incorrect syntax, etc.)
--> https://freemattandgrace.com/
You need to uninstall Windows Media 11 installed by Windows XP, then do as mentioned in the last post, using the WMP11 installer downloaded from Microsoft.
And by doing everything correctly (for the command lines, I had to retype them one by one, but it's worth it), it works, my player is now recognized without any problem!!!

Hello!
Nice information, but you speak French and you give us foreign links!!!
How can we, who do not speak that language, understand the processes???
How can you encourage the rejection of our language by doing everything to make us forget our beautiful language, forcing people by all possible means and in all sectors to forget it by providing information in foreign languages at all times of the day or night (national/informatics/music/cinema/culture + nothing is valued in our language!!!!
I also find it absurd to give information as if we were all pros at logical informatics and its manipulations!!!
So everything that's said here can't be done in my professional experience
Good luck!

Hello,
I've been searching for several days and here's THE SOLUTION, if you have WMP11 and XP:
1/ Install this patch "Microsoft_User-Mode_Driver_Framework_Install-v1.0-WinXP.exe"
to find it, type the name on Google (Google is your friend!!!)
2/ Once installed, go to control panel/system/system/hardware/device manager
And there you find your unrecognized player (like ZEN V PLUS) and right-click to update the driver (when asked if you allow Windows to connect to the internet, select NO and then keep clicking next).
Magic!!!! the MTP driver works thanks to this patch!!!!
Thanks who?????
and all this without tedious manipulations!!!!

Hello,
I am offering you a solution for the issue with your USB device installation that uses the MTP Device.
First, you need to uninstall Windows Media Player (WMP).
Control Panel / Add or Remove Programs / Uninstall Media Player
Then, go to add or remove Windows components and uncheck the box next to Windows Media Player.
Second, you need to clean the registry.
For my part, I used CCleaner. But there are other software of the same type that do the same thing.
Click on Registry and clean (even do it several times until there are no errors anymore)
Third, restart your machine.
Fourth, install WMP version 10
downloadable here => https://www.clubic.com/telecharger-fiche12911-windows-media-player-10.html
And finally, reconnect your device.
Best regards.

Here’s how I found the solution to make my player compatible without using MTP device
Find driver for SONY NWZ-S616F
Right-click on MY COMPUTER \ PROPERTIES \ HARDWARE \ DEVICE MANAGER
Look for Sony Walkman (usually with a yellow triangle) double click
DRIVER \ UPDATE DRIVER \ NO NOT THIS TIME \
INSTALL FROM A LIST...\ DO NOT SEARCH... \ choose the same place as done in DEVICE MANAGER
Then USB MASS STORAGE DEVICE.
It searches and finds it and there you go
Try it on another player other than Sony, it's worth a try
And thanks to those who are looking for solutions, good luck

My ZEN X-FI 32G wireless control is not recognized with MTP device driver installation failure.
The solution under XP SP3 was to remove WMP 11 and replace it with version 10, then I reinstalled
the MTP device and oh miracle, no errors; my device is now recognized by the machine and I can
perform all the planned operations.
So for those who have the same problem, remove Windows Media Player 11 to go back to 10,
then reinstall the MTP device driver and that’s it :D

I have essentially the same problem
I did the manipulation with the three files, it removes the error, but when I plug in my player, it wants drivers. The only ones I have to choose from are the MTP device generic driver from Microsoft, but the installation doesn't complete...
Thank you

SAMSUNG MP3 PLAYER YP-Q1 Rights issue with local service
Solution to reactivate the player.
WARNING the problem may not come from the player or the Emodio program. In some cases, Windows Media Player seemed to be at fault, but that's unlikely.
The problem was as follows:
The SAMSUNG device had been properly installed and was working well until one day? It stopped working. When the device is connected, I receive an error message stating that the MTP (media transfer protocol) does not recognize the player.
Also in {START > COMPUTER (RIGHT CLICK) > MANAGE > DEVICE MANAGER} there are 2 anomalies. 1) There is an unknown mass storage and 2) an unknown MTP device.
SOLUTION:
Go to [COMPUTER > C: DRIVE > SHARING AND SECURITY]
Security tab
Check if in the hard drive security among the users the LOCAL SERVICE is listed.
If not, add it and grant it full rights.
ADD > ADVANCED > FIND > LOCAL SERVICE Then add it as a user. Give it all rights.
No need to restart, it's done and the player reappears and is functional.
For more information, check how to add a user with its rights.
Good luck. I've had quite enough of the device.

Thank you Joe, your tip works perfectly, that damn message on MTP has disappeared, I can finally update Android on the Galaxy S!
1 year later, I have a new computer and the problem has returned. I had found the solution and I had posted it on the site... 1 year later I don't remember anymore and I'm so upset, sniff...
Coucou, I also had a problem with the MTP device, and in less than an hour my issue was resolved. It's simple, you just need to uninstall Media Player 11, then reconnect your USB device, and it should work.
My Phillips MP3 player was no longer recognized by Windows XP. I tried all possible manipulations but I couldn't get the MP3 player to reappear in My Computer.
Here's what worked for me:
You should know that the MTP protocol is only natively recognized starting from Windows Vista and above.
If you are on XP, you must have Windows Media Player installed on your machine; otherwise, it won't work. That wasn't my case. Besides, I don't want to install that software.
So, by going into the settings of my MP3 player, I was able to change the data transfer protocol from MTP to UMS (USB Mass Storage).
Both protocols allow multimedia mobile devices (cameras, MP3 players, etc.) to communicate with each other, but unlike MTP (Media Transfer Protocol), which is a proprietary protocol by Microsoft (only works with Microsoft applications), UMS is free and open. Many brands have adopted it.

Hello,
I also had problems installing Samsung Kies and MTP, and with my GS3 tablet recognition. And it turns out that installing an original version of Microsoft WMP11 fixed everything for me. Thanks to everyone who dared to share on this forum.
P.S. I believe that for those who already have WMP11, they need to uninstall it and then reboot.
P.S. I have an original operating system because when I installed WMP11, I was prompted to install a validation program.
Thanks again and good luck to all. Read more.
