My CPL is not working anymore. Solved

Question

Hello  my powerline adapter hasn't been working for a few weeks now, whereas I hadn't had any issues before.  Here is my setup:  - a Dartybox in a bedroom with 2 computers and a powerline adapter  - another computer in the living room connected by the powerline adapter.  Suddenly, I have no internet on the computer in the living room. Here are the various tests I've done to try to find the issue so far:  - I moved the living room computer to the bedroom and connected it to the box, and the internet works (so no issue with the network card).  - I swapped the powerline adapters from the living room and the bedroom, and it didn't change anything (so no issue with a single powerline adapter).  - I uninstalled Avast because I was advised there was a bug with it.  - ping test: 192.168.0.2 => general failure (no issue with the box?)  - ping test: 127.0.0.1 => 4 packets received (no issue with the network card?)  - Darty's customer service didn't try to help me after the above ping tests.   I have reached a point where I really don't know what to do anymore :( Does anyone have a suggestion to help me, please?   Thank you in advance  Gaël

Hello madmyke  - I have reset them (there's a button underneath the case) without any result. - The 2 powerline adapters (bedroom + living room) are plugged directly into a socket, without using a power strip. - I swapped the 2 powerline adapters and both work in the bedroom, which rules out a hardware failure in my opinion. Hello  It seems that either yours or a powerline adapter is causing the problem. Have you already reset the powerline adapters? (see the brand's manual) Are the powerline adapters directly plugged into a wall socket? (and not into a power strip, at least for the tests). Sometimes one of the units can be faulty; if that’s the case, there’s nothing we can do unless it’s under warranty (2 years).  PLEASE DESCRIBE your problem in DETAIL, thank you! @Save the Earth! It's the only planet where we can find chocolate!

I didn't understand everything, it would be helpful to have a diagram. So do you have 2 modules or 3?  And which configuration works?  If there are indeed two modules and it doesn't work in the living room-bedroom but the same bedroom-bedroom works (as I'm having a hard time understanding how it could work without being connected to the box in the bedroom), then we can deduce that there is a disruptive element that has been added to the electrical network.   Is it wired CPL or Wi-Fi at the end of the network?    PLEASE DESCRIBE your problem in DETAIL, thank you! @Save the Earth! It's the only planet where we find chocolate!

First of all, these are wired powerline adapters.  For the setup:  - In the bedroom, the router is connected on one side to the first powerline adapter (by a cable, of course) and on the other side is connected via cable to 2 computers.  - In the living room, I have the second powerline adapter which connects to the third computer, also by cable.  It worked very well for 2 years until there was an internet outage on the living room computer a few weeks ago. The computer doesn't seem to be the issue since the internet works if I connect it to the router in the bedroom.

Hi madmyke  I just did the tests: "You first need to do an IP config in the room where it works. Come back to where it doesn't work, turn on the PC and do an Ipconfig /flushdns to attempt a connection." => it writes to me "DNS resolution cache cleared" "Then pconfig /release and finally ipconfig /renew." => the 1st: - ethernet card: DNS suffix: (empty) IPv6 address: fe80::c532:9816:a2e5:2213%10 IPv4 address: 169.254.34.19 subnet mask: 255.255.0.0 default gateway: (empty) - isatap tunnel adapter: media disconnected - teredo tunneling pseudo-interface: media disconnected the 2nd: an error occurred while renewing the local area network connection interface. unable to contact your DHCP server timeout expired.  For the electrical part, no new devices have been added during this period. I will do the tests, but I don't see what could be causing it.  thanks again for your help

Hello  I just did the following test: in the room where the box is, I plugged both powerline adapters into the same power strip. One powerline adapter connects to the box, which is itself connected to a computer. The second powerline adapter connects to the second computer. Regardless of which computer I use, I have internet on the one connected to the box but not on the other. The conclusions I draw: - no problem with the computers since the result is the same regardless of which computer. - no problem with the electrical line since it doesn't work on the same power strip. - probably a faulty powerline adapter, but how can I be sure (hard to buy one for nothing)?
