Hello,
I have an external hard drive (Verbatim 320 GB) that connects via USB 2.
How can I connect it to a USB 3 port and have my hard drive recognized?

P.S.: I already tried connecting my USB 2 external hard drive to a USB 3 port; the external hard drive starts up, but the PC doesn't recognize it and displays no messages—neither that it is improperly connected, nor incompatible, nothing at all, and no sound when I plug it in, just the drive's light turns on.
My external hard drive works fine on USB 2.

Thank you in advance.

    Hi

We've been asking the question for 3 years now, USB standards are backward compatible.

USB 2.0 works with 1.0 and 3.0, 3.0 devices are also compatible with 2.0 sometimes requiring a connection via 2 USB 2.0 ports (3.0 device on 2.0 ports)

So no problem using a 2.0 device on a 3.0 port.

So why is my external hard drive not recognized by my PC?

Have you checked the "Disk Management" to see if it appears or not?

And you don't have any USB 2.0 ports on the PC? I would find that surprising ^^

If it works on USB 2 but since I'm going to change PCs, there will be a lot of USB 3, so I would like to know how to do it.
