When you say "no more wifi"
Are you disconnected from the network or is your card no longer detecting the network?
It might just be enough to tell Windows or the management program to reconnect.

I have the same issue, I don't know where it comes from but I found a solution without restarting the PC: after sleep mode, when the Wi-Fi doesn't detect anything, right-click on your Wi-Fi connection, choose disable, and then immediately choose enable.

I just installed a Packard Bell PC running Vista, a Netgear WiFi dongle, and an Orange Livebox WiFi network, along with Norton NIS.

I admit that I'm... not bad at setting up the network, particularly with shared printers on a PC running XP, and file sharing (permissions issue)... and I'm struggling to understand who manages what.

In short, I also experienced WiFi connection loss when going into sleep mode.

Indeed, during the installation, I requested Windows (here Vista) to manage the connection.
I reconfigured to use the Netgear manager (Smart Assistant) and since then it's been fine.
In my opinion (whose fault is it?), upon waking from sleep, the dongle isn't reactivated by default, while all the applications are awake, so if I have one that manages the WiFi, it takes care of reconnecting.

When it goes into sleep mode (for example, when I close the screen), it disconnects automatically (the Wi-Fi turns off), and when I open the screen, it finds a Wi-Fi network (sometimes it doesn't find one), but it doesn't want to connect.
I installed the Club Internet Wi-Fi assistant, with the Windows assistant, no Wi-Fi was found

I see I'm not the only one, but my issue is not resolved.

I found a workaround, in the power management, I disabled sleep mode and hard drive shutdown, and with that, there's no more WiFi disconnection.
But the problem is that on battery, since it no longer goes to sleep, the battery life is shorter.

Well, I have pretty much the same problem as you... my computer goes to sleep and then the Wi-Fi gets disabled. However, as soon as the sleep mode is stopped, I automatically reconnect. I looked at the Wi-Fi network properties, but I didn't find anything to prevent this. If there's a solution, I'm all ears because it's really annoying!! Thanks!

Yes, it works with a small software that manages the connection.

Unfortunately, the little software I use does not work with all wifi chipsets...

You just have to select your product and then on the left select "Software/Drivers" and download the utility.

I also have connection loss issues after sleep mode. But in my case, I feel like it's either the software (Netgear Assistant) that gets stuck since I can't access it once out of two tries or an addressing problem. Most of the time, I have to restart the software or request a repair. It's a bit annoying!
How can I find the root of the problem or fix it?
My setup: laptop, XP, Netgear WG111v2 USB WiFi adapter, Freebox HD.

I have exactly the same problem for a few days, with Free ADSL, Wi-Fi card in the Freebox, Windows XP, after waking from sleep the Wi-Fi disconnects but Netgear reconnects me as soon as activity resumes after a few seconds of searching, does anyone have a solution?? Thanks.

There is no solution; it's totally normal. Sleep mode turns off the screen, the hard drive, and the processor, so it's normal for the Wi-Fi to stop. What would not be normal is if the Wi-Fi doesn't reconnect after resuming. However, you are automatically reconnected, so there’s no problem. The only thing you can do is to disable sleep mode.

I have been experiencing the same problem for the past 10 days; I have an Athlon PC.
USB Wi-Fi connection with the Livebox. I had chosen to put the computer to sleep, and after waking it up, the connection was fine. It was after the second sleep that there was no response from the Thomson USB key! I have tried several things, but nothing worked.
I have restarted the PC several times, nothing.
Yesterday, I decided to reinstall everything and format the hard drive, still the same issue. Device not recognized. This has never happened to me before.
