Hello,
I saw a similar question on the site that received a response. I tried what was suggested - Pressing the metal tab all the way up should lift the back cover. Despite several attempts (using a ballpoint pen to press it completely, nothing happens, nothing moves. I'm annoyed, the batteries are dead so no GPS.
Thanks to those who have had this problem and managed to solve it.
Have a good evening.
Configuration: Windows XP / Chrome 27.0.1453.94

You need to pull the gray tab in the indicated direction and push inward on the remote control.
The gray part will detach from the black casing.

You need to pull in the direction of the arrow on the gray tab while at the same time pushing on it, and this way the gray side will come off. If you're right-handed, take the remote with your left hand upside down and push with your right hand on the tab. No need to force it. It took me a while to get it, but once you understand it, it's good!!!

Super, thanks, it worked right away, and yet I had been trying for half an hour. But honestly, what was the manufacturer thinking? Why make it simple when you can make it complicated?

Thank you very much, thanks to your explanations, my husband succeeded. You really have to press hard to make it work. In 2021, I will find my GPS again.
