IPhone 4S screen compatible with iPhone 4

Hello,

I first looked for the answer in the forum and on g**gle but I couldn't find it, so if I searched incorrectly, I apologize in advance.

I wanted to change the screen of my iPhone 4, but when I ordered it, I made a mistake and ordered a glass for the iPhone 4s instead.

I had already changed the 3 without any problems and I didn't think I would encounter so many issues with the 4....

Of course, I didn't realize my mistake right away; I first cursed and then cut the sides that didn't match. So it was impossible to return it.

With the screen installed, I turned on the iPhone which remained black, nothing happened. When I plugged it into iTunes, it offered to restore it, I accepted but there was no change. And every time I plug it in, it offers the restoration again.

I double-checked and re-checked all the connections, and everything seems fine to me.

So my question is simple: is the 4s screen compatible with the iPhone 4 (in which case it would mean that I messed up somewhere but how to know where?!)

Or do I simply need to buy the correct screen?

Thank you in advance!

P.S.: I forgot to mention that I broke a cable from the old screen when disassembling it, so I can't put it back to "retest the iPhone").

Good evening, I made the same mistake as you; I mistakenly used the wrong screen, but I managed to install the iPhone 4S screen on an iPhone 4 and it works very well. To install it, I had to cut 8 legs. But well, it's still better to have the original screen.

Good evening, I would like to know which legs you have cut?

At first glance, the two screens look very similar, same size, same proportions, same resolution, same contrast, etc.

However, as with all these types of products, there is often an electronic component where it is likely coded that this is for an iPhone 4 and not a 4S. Or there might be a slight difference in the drivers needed to operate the screen, and thus the driver included in the iOS version for the iPhone 4 does not work and detects issues (the reason the phone wants to restore). Basically, I am not 100% sure it will never work, but the hope is still low (knowing Apple would not want us to use old screens for a new phone).

Hi, one thing is for sure, the iPhone 4 screen is not the same as the iPhone 4s screen since the latter has a Retina display while the former does not. The technology is therefore different and apparently incompatible, as you just experienced.

What to do then?

Yes, the screen is compatible. The only problem is that during a call, the screen does not lock and the sensor does not respond.

L'écran and the proximity sensor are not located on the same ribbon cable; you should check the power button.
