HDMI: The PC does not detect the TV

Good evening,

I think this is a fairly common problem, but I haven't found a solution on the forums.

Since my laptop screen (Asus x93s) is damaged, I want to use my TV (Sony KDL 5500) as an auxiliary display. I've connected the HDMI cable from the PC to the TV, but when I go to display -> screen resolution, I can't detect the TV.
Does anyone know the steps to perform?

P.S. I'm on Windows 7
I've tried all 4 HDMI ports on the TV as well as the projector mode, but without success.

Thanks

Hello

Screen transfer from PC to video projector or TV

Turn on the TV or projector; the video connection will be VGA, S-video, composite (yellow RCA), or HDMI, depending on. And except for HDMI, you need to add an audio connection
You can use a SCART adapter for older TVs to connect S-video, composite, and audio
There are several ways:
Start with this simple method for recent PCs on Windows 7 and 8: Press "Windows" key + "P" key and choose your option "PC only, projector only" and duplicate, no interest here
Or another method:

* On your PC, right-click on the desktop
* Screen resolution
* Click on "Show desktop only on 1" or "on 2"
* Apply
* The image will then be projected onto the projection screen and the computer screen will go black
* Click on the projection screen or TV by moving the mouse over "Keep changes"
* Ok

Repeat the process in reverse to retrieve the image on the PC.
Or turn off the projector; the image will automatically return (after a few seconds) to the PC monitor

For audio, unless using HDMI, we go through the output of the PC sound card to power the TV or an amplifier
You need to align the display resolutions to the maximum of the least capable of the two screens

Or explained like this:
1. VGA and DVI ports
2. To open Control Panel, click on the Start button, then on Control Panel.
3. In the search area, type projector, then click on Connect to a projector.
(To use a keyboard shortcut instead of Control Panel, press the Windows key + P).
4. Select how you want to display the Desktop:
o Computer only (this displays your Desktop only on your computer screen);
o Duplicate (this displays your Desktop on your computer screen and on a projector);
o Extend (this extends your Desktop from your computer screen to a projector);
o Projector only (this displays your Desktop only on a projector
o For a TV screen, the same method applies

Hello, I've done all these steps and yet since yesterday I can no longer connect my ASUS to the TV or to my Picopix, even though it was working very well until now. I tried the VGA cable instead of the HDMI cable, no better. The problem is therefore with my PC, I don't know what to do to resolve it... help!!

Hello
same goes for me: HDMI cable and it was working perfectly until February 2016!!!!
A thousand attempts later; phew!!

Connect the computer and the TV to any HDMI port and then through the TV's SOURCE menu go to the item "refresh". The TV will then search for new connections.

Then through the graphics card menu (Nvidia for my Asus X93) I finally have access to the coordination of the 2 screens.
