Hello everyone,

After trying to bring up my background grid in InDesign CS6, I made the guides that indicate when a block is aligned with another disappear...

My problem is that I don’t know what those lines are called (I thought they appeared automatically) that let us know if the text box is centered on the page, if it is aligned with the other objects on the page, etc... and I can't find their name online...

I really need your help to tell me what these active guides are called and how to activate them?

They are quite thin (green or blue if the position is relative to a block or object and purple if it's relative to the page). They only activate if the object or text block is selected... And they are especially very convenient...

A big thank you in advance to anyone who understands my question; it’s not easy to explain something when you don’t know its name :s

Thank you very much!!

These guides that appear when two objects align are called smart guides. To activate/deactivate them, press CMD+U on Mac or CTRL+U on PC.

You can also configure them in the preferences.
