How to fix the B200 error code on a Canon MP550.

After numerous tests (trial and error because I wanted to understand. I'm tired of buying and buying again while being convinced that the machine can still work), I concluded that this error code was an "information" coming from the print head (planned obsolescence?).
On a forum, there was talk of trying to tinker with the program of the chip placed on the print head to erase this message. Not being able to do that (I don't know much about computers), I wondered if it was possible to short-circuit this "information".
And that started another series of tests consisting of obstructing the connectors of the print head.

Process:
Remove the print head.
On the print head, there are 4 rows of connectors.
We are interested in the first row, which has 13 connectors. We number the connectors from 1 to 13 (starting from the left).

It simply involves obstructing connectors number 9 and 10. I used a piece of tape (electrical insulating tape) cut to the size of the two connectors.

Reinstall the print head and lower the cover
Turn on the printer. Normally you will get the message: "the following ink tank cannot be recognized." Code U043.
All you have to do is put in the ink cartridges.
You can print.

Hoping this works for you too.
However, I still don’t know if this technique has any drawbacks. Time will tell. In the meantime, I can only be satisfied because I was about to throw my printer away.

I think this manipulation should also be possible for other Canon models (and why not for other manufacturers, we'll see!!!). You need to find the connectors to obstruct.
For those who want to try, here’s my process:
1. Obstruct entire row by entire row and note the error messages. If the "B200 code" appears, it means that this row is not concerned (in principle)

2. Then, on the remaining rows, obstruct one half and again note the error messages. In short, go by elimination.
3. With a bit of luck, you will end up with the message "the following ink tank cannot be recognized." Code U043.

4. At that point, obstruct one by one all the connectors of the affected half row. If it yields nothing, then try two by two, and so on.

I imagine this will vary from model to model, but I’m pretty sure it can work. At least I hope so.

"Fòs é kouraj" to all those who want to give it a shot.

Could it be related to the new Windows 10 update? Even when blocking, it doesn't work. However, there was a big update for Windows just before, and the printer was reinstalled. Maybe it's just a coincidence?

Hello,
What a coincidence, (we're talking about the Canon MP550, right?) I don't think so because I've done 2/3 tests with and without the shutters and each time, with the shutters the printer worked, without them, it didn't work.
Maybe the connectors involved aren't the same (each printer, even if it's the same model, would have different coding???). We should try other combinations.
Good luck, it's worth it.

I'm still on XP and I haven't done any updates.
