Hello, here is the message that appears when I use my Epson Stylus Photo RX420 printer:
"intervention required".
Some components inside the printer are almost at the end of their life.
Can you tell me which component it is because I have searched in my printer's documentation and I can't find it. Thank you in advance.

Hello everyone, for those who haven't solved the problem of the blinking E, I recently found the answer to this issue. It works for the RX420 and RX425
I have to say the guy is impressive.
Here's the magic solution (because it's Epson that puts counters and locks the printers)
"""Hello, I had the same problem last night and after a lot of searching online, I found the solution:
my RX425 printer has been working again since this morning.
Reminder of the problem: all the green lights were blinking and the red ones were steady with an E on the display.
Printer message: some parts have reached the end of their lifespan.
This link takes you to a program to download in ZIP.
https://www.eserviceinfo.com/downloadsm/22895/SEIKO%20EPSON_EPSON%20RX420-425-430.html
Once downloaded, you need to extract it.
In the folder SPRX420-425-430, there is an exe file: SPRX420-425-430 ver12 EPSON SPC adjustment program
Clicking on it opens the SEQUENTIAL ADJUSTMENT MODE window.
Select your printer. Confirm.
Then a flowchart of the printer's internal parts opens.
Select WASTE INK PAD: Replacement or removal.
The adjustment program opens.
Run the test with the printer on. Then the values display: 14700 maximum. New:?
Afterward, do clear or initialization: Check again and the new counter reads zero but the printer is still blinking.
Turn it off. Turn it back on and voila, miracle!!! It’s working again!
Easy: but 3 hours of searching.
Good luck to everyone and remember: next time I won't buy the printer that consumes the most ink.
Don't forget to take out the little pad under the black cartridge and dry it with absorbent paper. You can put it back in with tweezers or the end of a pencil.

A very strong guy found the solution for those of you for whom the SScutility software doesn’t work, like it did for me.
“Hello, I had the same problem last night and after searching the net, I found the solution: my RX425 printer is working again since this morning.

Hello,
I'm not sure it's the solution, but there is a resetter for Epson printers (my C44+ malfunctions if you replace 'too many' cartridges with NON Epson cartridges).
This resetter can be found on the website http://webmail.tele2internet.fr/Redirect/www.123inkt.nl (then download and provide an email address).
Good luck and best wishes
Eric

Hello, I refill 4 out of 6 cartridges on my Epson Stylus Photo R300 and I bought the device that allows me to reset the cartridges' chip, no problem it works but no more than 3 refills per cartridge as the valve underneath the cartridge deteriorates. I got blocked by the chip that monitors the number of copies and at 60,000 copies the machine stops, you just need to change the piece of fabric next to the cleaning rubber of the head and reset the machine with the program and there you go, it’s working again. However, the cartridge reset does not work with the program; you absolutely need the device
and to do it for each cartridge after refilling. The refill for each cartridge is different; for the original one, it's next to the valve, you just need to pierce the cover, fill it up, and seal it with tape. You can't find LIGHT CYAN and LIGHT MAGENTA ink
I buy these at CARROUF as it's the cheapest for generic, otherwise, I don't use any EPSON cartridges and it works well. Good evening and looking forward to it, regards, Pierre (the link doesn't work)

I don't print much because I'm lucky to have equipment at work. So my Epson RX420 doesn't get much use, but I've calculated that each print with my Epson costs me about €1. That's huge. That's why I bought an "Inkjet" refill kit, which excited me in principle, but not for long... The electronic reset is perfect, but I tried refilling from different places and... it doesn't work. Why? I'm wondering if there's an incompatibility between the ink and the machine.
I have the same problem, my Epson Stylus Photo RX425 printer is flashing everywhere and appears to be stuck. Do you know what to do? Thank you for your help.
No, not cartridges but a capsule that absorbs unused ink... but the change can only be done with the intervention of a specialist!! You have to make money somewhere!!
Hello,
I am looking for a driver to make my Epson Stylus Photo RX420 work with Vista, is it possible?
I am looking for a driver to make my Epson Stylus Photo RX420 work with Vista, is it possible?
Hello,
I am on Windows Seven and my PC is powered on, the RX 420 is turned off. I simply connected the RX 420 via USB, then turned on the RX 420 using the POWER button; Windows 7 automatically installed all the necessary drivers and everything works well. I think we should do the same under Windows Vista.

I found out what this infamous "I" error stands for, like "Ink". It indicates either an empty cartridge or an unrecognized cartridge.
Each press of the "Ink" button causes the carriage to move to the cursor on the cover to indicate which cartridge(s) need changing. A new press will move the carriage to the cartridge loading position. Another press will send it back to parking.
The procedure I described above only works sometimes and I still haven't figured out why :(
In any case, this error allows the use of the scanner even if the printer is out of service, which will save many from throwing away their printer with a brand new scanner.
Hoping to have helped some.

This is the typical throttling of printers: cost of the operation by EPSON = €90 ....
Otherwise, use the SSC utility software that you can find in English for free on this site: http://www.ssclg.com/epsone.shtml
Make sure to configure it so that it recognizes your printer. It does appear in the dropdown list but not in alphabetical order.
It allows you to reset the ink counter. I recommend cleaning your pads with water beforehand, but taking apart that damned RX420 is a real challenge. Disassembling the print head is a real problem nest; in fact, mine is going to the scrap because I've never been able to get it to work again. I’ve tried all the manipulations I could find but to no avail.
The first screw to remove is behind the USB port cover. Three others are under the sticker of the control panel. One that holds the paper thickness selection lever accessible through a small opening in the casing.
If you encounter a problem, I can upload a blown-up view of the machine.
Good luck.
PS: Personally, I switched to Canon, entry-level (better text printing, more ingenious in terms of disassembly, etc.) and I will never buy EPSON again. But they are all to be lumped together. For example: Canon print head = €75, new printer = €38 ... I sent them an email of congratulations for the pollution generated, they never responded.

I am interested in the disassembly plan for the Stylus RX425.
I have a "paper jam" error, and there isn't one; I think it's
a sensor at the paper entry that isn't working.
To see it, the printer needs to be disassembled, so I would like to do it myself considering the repair costs.
Thank you in advance.

There is also a cartridge (like in photocopiers) that absorbs unused ink... Normally, when ink cartridges are empty, it is clearly indicated by the software... Here, apparently, it is a technical problem, so I maintain my hypothesis that it is indeed the ink cartridge...
Do you have any buttons or other lights that are blinking or staying on your printer?

HELLO. Your printer needs to be flashed. For that, you'll need to see a specialist and it will work like before. I had the same problem. In my opinion, next time you should opt for a printer where the print heads are in the cartridges. That way, when you change the cartridges, you also change the heads at the same time. Good luck.
Unfortunately, at the moment I haven't found any solution that could help me by myself. If no one can help me, I will be forced to take it to a repair shop, and I think that will cost me a lot.
Hello,
I’m a bit late to the discussion, but here’s my story… it might interest you...
It’s been 2 years since we bought an Epson Stylus Photo RX420 multifunction printer.
Two years later, we have the same problem as you, intervention required: a part of the multifunction block has reached the end of its life. Contact your dealer...
Which we did. Naturally, the printer is no longer under warranty. A technician told us that the print heads were dead.
(PS: the advantage with HP is that when you change the cartridges, you change the heads at the same time).
In short, this kind of problem is common AND especially that it will cost you much more to replace the heads than to buy a new printer....
Welcome to the era of consumption where it is easier to throw away your printer, even for a simple print head issue, and buy a new one than to get it repaired.
So, if you are sentimentally attached to your printer, good luck.
Otherwise, I recommend HP, it lasts longer; I had one before, and according to my friend, it’s still working great...

Sorry, the guards, but "element in end of life" means that the ink absorber sponge is full... you need to reset the printer and clean the sponge with clear water, so you have to disassemble the printer... and then Epson is ultimately more expensive than HP since you use a lot more ink ;)
So forget Epson and switch to print head cartridges like HP or Canon MP160 (PG50 and CL51).

http://www.ssclg.com/epsone.shtml, on this site you will find a software that allows you to reset the error message "service required, ink pads are at the end of their service life" for all EPSON printers, it is a marker put by EPSON to prompt you to replace the ink pad that collects the ink after a print head cleaning at a repair shop, and hello the bill.
I have a problem with my Epson Stylus Photo RX 420 printer. All my lights are on and blinking except for the letter E, which stays on. Two red lights for paper and ink remain on as well. Thank you for your help.
I have a Stylus Photo RX420 myself, and the indicators are blinking or fixed, like the ink one, which stays on in red. I changed the cartridges and did exactly as described in the manual, but nothing works. Nothing is working anymore. Can someone please help me? Thank you.
I have the same problem with Epson.
DO YOU HAVE THE SOLUTION to change the printer sponge? And where can I buy this sponge OR is it enough to vacuum the ink contained in the sponge?
THANK YOU.

Hello,
I found a trick on my RX425 that should put it in initialization mode, but it doesn't really solve the problem :(
1. Unplug the printer for 30 seconds. Plug it back in
2. Press and hold [cancel + Color copy + black & white copy + Power] simultaneously. Hold these buttons for 25 seconds (25 flashes). The carriage should move once.
3. Only the Ink/page, Color copy, and black & white copy LEDs stay on, and the display shows "1" (or "I"?). Each press of the "ink/page" button moves the carriage to 3 different positions.
Now the question is how to completely reset this pile of junk RX425!

I need help. My Epson RX 425 printer is blinking and an E appears as well. I tried to download, as you said, but my antivirus is blocking it. What should I do to fix this? Thank you very much for your response.
I have the same issue as you with a RX420 printer.
When I click on check with the recommended software, I get an error message: "Cannot find Dll"
Does anyone have an idea??!
Thank you!
