Hello,
Here is my problem: I installed Windows 8 Pro on my HP Pavilion a6625fr computer and since then, my DVD/CD-Rom burner is no longer working. It does not appear in the device manager only in the view of hidden devices but there is no exclamation mark.
I tried to update the driver but it tells me that it is up to date and when I go into the properties, it says: This device is not currently connected to the computer (Code 45). I don't understand what this means!!!
I wonder if Windows 8 didn’t delete it and it might still be in hidden memory. What do you think and what can I do?
I hope you can help me, I can no longer watch my DVDs, listen to my CDs, or install software.
Before installing Windows 8, I had Windows Vista.
Thank you for any help you can provide.

Hello
You should try this:
- turn off the PC
- unplug the drive/burner.
- restart the PC. (wait for it to recognize the absence of the burner)
- turn off the PC.
- plug the drive/burner back in.
- restart.
Windows will reinstall it.
If that doesn't work, there's nothing more to do; it's either not compatible with W8 or it's defective.
