Hello,
On my PC (not the one I'm using, another one), I installed Android x86 4.2, and it works well in live mode, but once installed, when I try to boot, it stays at 'Detecting Android x86' and keeps showing dots, over and over.
I would really like to know how to solve this problem because frankly, Android 4.2.2 on PC is really great. Thank you
Configuration: Linux Ubuntu 12.10 / Chrome 24.0.1312.56

Are you sure you didn't install Android in persistent mode on the USB stick? I love Ubuntu, but Unity is a pig for low-power computers...

Is there no grub at startup? Otherwise, hold down shift after the BIOS loading. Does it show Android in its options? (normally)

Yes, there is a grub at startup, there is Android x86 in the list of choices, I have to insert the USB key containing Android-x86 to boot Android-x86 which is installed on the hard drive, and nothing is saved, it's like the Android x86 on the hard drive only serves to boot from the live USB. But since that wasn't working, I installed Ubuntu on the PC.

No, I didn't install it persistently; I used MultiSystem, but it's fine.
By the way, I had a PC with only 1GB of RAM (originally it had 500MB), a 1GHz CPU, and I installed Ubuntu 11.10 on it; it was much less sluggish than XP or Kubuntu (but I preferred that variant). -
11.10 is very good and lightweight, but the following versions have become bulkier to enhance the design...

yes it's true but otherwise the first linux distribution installed on this machine was: xubuntu 11.04
