Grub doesn't show up and the computer keeps rebooting
Hello,
I'm reaching out to you, oh great forum gurus ;-), to seek your help regarding a malfunction with my dual boot installation of Ubuntu 22.04.
I have an HP Elite-book Folio 9470m with an Intel Core i5-3437U processor.
To cut a long story short, after successfully completing the installation, an error message appeared stating that GRUB could not be installed and that it was a fatal error. After closing the notification, the installation was finished. However, after closing the live session, the PC kept restarting in a loop.
What should I do? I tried the

Hello,
Logically, you need to install grub on
The partition

Good luck
Logically, you need to install grub on
/dev/sdasince that’s where Windows and Linux are installed:
-
/dev/sda
corresponds to your hard drive -
/dev/sdb
corresponds to a 4GiB USB stick (your stick prepared forboot-repair
, I suppose).
The partition
/dev/sda6is an ESP partition, which is consistent with the fact that you can enable secureboot. It’s not mandatory to enable it, but if Windows was installed with it, it won’t boot without it, so you will be compelled to reactivate it sooner or later. If you installed Linux with Secureboot disabled, you can make up for it by installing
grub-efi-amd64:
sudo apt update sudo apt install grub-efi-amd64
For more details regarding the repair itself, you should redo the
boot-repairprocedure by reporting to us:
- the exact commands you typed
- their results,
- the report produced by
boot-repair
at the end of the procedure

Hello,
Good luck!
- Can you provide more details about what you did with
boot-repair
(which commands you ran). - Do you have secure boot enabled?
- Can you share your partition table (in
boot-repair
:sudo parted -l
) - and more generally, the report produced byboot-repair
at the end of the procedure.
Good luck!

Secondly, yes I have SecureBoot but it is not enabled.
Thirdly, I tried your command and here’s what shows up:
