Hello everyone,
I've looked everywhere and found people with the same problem as mine but without any answer.
Let me explain: I got a new 160 GB 2.5" SATA hard drive from Hitachi that was intended for an Orange decoder. I want to use it as an external hard drive.
When I put it in an external case (which works because I've checked it) and connect it with its Y USB, the device is recognized but does not appear in My Computer.
Then, in "Disk Management", I can't initialize the disk; I get an error message: "Cyclic redundancy check".
Given that there are other people in my situation with the same hardware, I don't think the disk is dead.
If anyone has a solution, I’d be grateful!
Thanks!
Configuration: Windows 7 / Chrome 24.0.1312.57

Hi,
you can try with diskpart or test disk...
but make sure not to select the wrong disk
start --> search type:
cmd
then type
diskpart
then type
list disk
try to identify it by its size, if you're sure about the disk and it’s recognized, we can attempt a clean...
first let me know if you see it and identify it (to avoid selecting the wrong disk...)
Multiple issues sometimes create one solution...
