Hello,

So I asked my question a few days ago. Since then, I've tried a lot of things based on what other friends have posted here, attempted tips from your site and its friendly community... BUT: nothing works. Let me explain:
The repair tool is nowhere to be found, just like scanpst.exe.
It seems like there's not even a *.pst file left.

Of course, I found nothing concrete on my computer regarding scanpst.exe and especially, the thing 012: nothing at all.
Then I went online and attempted to download this:

It worked for a while and when I thought it was done... it asked me to save the thing. I said yes... and it asked me for €99.

It's not their fault, but I just got a €90 fine... ((for going 20 km too fast at night: there was no one around!)) so I don't have the €99. I canceled the registration and I will NEVER know if it would have worked.

So, friends, tell me: is there nothing to be done! Should I give up? Should I go get my new messages online and proceed with the funeral ceremony for my old messages: so much work! It seems incredible!

How do we proceed if we don’t have the Office 2007 DVD?

Outlook is not part of the Office suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel); it is a separate license.
Unless it is pre-installed when buying the PC, in which case it is essential, right from the start, to create the system backup DVDs that will be used to reset in case of problems.
You can also create a system backup on an external hard drive (advantage: you have the system in the updated version at the time of the backup, not the "Factory" system).
Otherwise, in my opinion, it's a lost cause.

I just had the problem under Windows 8.1
I did not find the exact solution, but bits of solutions that, put together, gave me the answer.
I made myself a note (printed) added to the others in a folder "Computer", all on paper (not crazy).
I deliver it to you below:
If, when opening Outlook, a message announces that Outlook.pst is corrupted and that you need to use scanpst.exe.

Under Windows 8.1, the SCANPST.EXE file can be found in
C:\program files(x86)\Microsoft Office\Office12.

You need to check "Show hidden files" in "Control Panel-Tools-Folder Options-View-Hidden files and folders" if necessary.

At the prompt "Enter the name of the file you want to scan"
Search for outlook.pst (or another .pst file) using the "browse" function
C:\Users\(username or administrator)\AppData\local\Microsoft\Outlook
Make sure there are no Outlook applications open, even in the background (go through Task Manager Ctrl+Alt+Del), close them.
Select the file (Outlook.pst, or another .pst) and click Start
The analysis in 8 steps that signals the damaged file may take quite a while.
Click "repair"
As a precaution, Outlook offers to back up the existing file (.bak), accept.
If the procedure has already been used, Outlook will ask to replace the previous backup, accept.
The repair starts (more or less long).
Final message of successful repair.

I only have Windows 7... I did the famous scanpst etc...

countless times and they confirm what I already know: "THERE ARE ERRORS"..

what I want is to get my Outlook back... when I reach out to them via their site... ok ok: tutto va bene!!! you just pay €100 AND MORE... and they'll be by your side, super dedicated:

all of this really pisses me off (S O R R Y!)... I have been a volunteer everywhere since I was over 30 and now... they're telling me this, THEM... really, I prefer to give it all up and switch to GMAIL and others for any messages... or even
do without it: I am disillusioned, disappointed...

I didn't quite understand, do you have this scanpst file or not?
If not, please provide your email address, I can try to send you mine.
If yes, do you have a laptop or a desktop?
If it's a desktop, I don't see what can be done.
If it's a laptop, there are quite a few FNAC stores, especially in the greater Paris suburbs (Is that your case?) say "green FNACs" because they are located in large shopping complexes and thus have the same hours (7 days a week, closing at 8 PM on weekdays, open on weekends).
To try to stem the Apple tide, Microsoft frequently sends technicians there who are there to showcase Microsoft products, answer user questions or solve their problems (That's how I found out how to sync my Outlook with my Winphone).
But it's better to call ahead to find out their hours and possibly make an appointment because you could arrive when they have a scheduled presentation.

Good evening,

I had no difficulty getting (after copying/pasting ... the long title of the file to revise!) to C:\program files(x86)\Microsoft Office\Office12. (a title that goes on and on, much longer than that but okay, I just: copied/pasted!) then I did the SCANPST.EXE in 8 steps ... okay.
Then: NOTHING ... and yes, I'm being told the number of errors (aaaaaaaaaaaaah! knowing that changes everything, uh, sorry: WHAT?).

SO, I have already called MICROSOFT twice ... the first time a somewhat directive guy ... the second time, a nice girl ... but well: IT'S HER JOB: I understand that she can't FIX anything .... so I have to put myself at their mercy ... I subscribe to them for over €100 (well yeah, it's always something for them!!!) and then:

MIRACULOUS!!!:

Everything will FINALLY be fine for me Outlook will work, it will be faster, I won't have any viruses (because YES, I forgot to mention: the issue is according to them because I have a VIRUS ... I am "infected," except that I have NORTON SYMANTEC ... which they entirely removed, then put everything back and assured me that my computer is operational and that for "that" already, I committed for 2 years and for expensive!!!

Isn't that a bit of unfair competition against the protectors, the anti-virus,
like NORTON SYMANTEC and others? ... I am already paying extremely high with them, and it is of no use in this case, so putting myself elsewhere: for now ... I resist! lol!

So, well, I will create a gmail account or elsewhere ... and too bad!

I am very very very upset.. I am sure they do it on purpose a bit like our pharmaceutical labs that make us sick to BETTER treat us later but for ...

OK, I KNOW ... I'm getting "PARANOID," ... you would be too (I work or rather worked with "that." I really needed it!)

I had so much work to catch up on that... I don't even know if I ended up letting you know that my OUTLOOK is working again!!!

By repeatedly doing your operation (scan, etc.), something happened (what? I don't know, but... everything is fine!!!).

Apparently, Microsoft has also made some updates... who knows if my issue came from that!

The important thing is that everything is fixed without having to incur more costs!

Thank you for your friendly and selfless help! In any case, all the problems we encounter, deep down, help us evolve (if they don't drive us too crazy! lol!).
