Hello,

I notice when going to friends or family that the download speed is often around 2.5mb/s.

However, at home, I never exceed 500ko/s when downloading a file on the internet or via torrent. I know that for torrents it depends on the sources and all that...
Anyway, I don't understand because I have Belgacom's Maxi Internet.

Here is a test I conducted: https://www.speedtest.net/result/2473969754.png

Thank you in advance,

Le-Stout.

Configuration: Windows XP / Chrome 24.0.1312.56

Thank you for all your answers,
If others find themselves in my situation,
    It is indeed ADSL.
You need to contact Belgacom to request the upgrade from ADSL to VDSL2
If it is available for your line.

    Hello,

it's normal you have a download speed of 3.51 Mb/s, so a calculation is needed to get your download speed which should be 300-500 Kb/s, depending also on the download hosting.

    Hoping to have helped.

    Sincerely, Nitratz

Given the speed test and knowing the quality of Belgacom, it's not the download servers.
While the fastest are on VDSL, he (like me) is on ADSL!
It's limited to 4 MBPS THEORETICAL (so, the practical speed is below that!)

So I will never be able to exceed this limit while they state a maximum speed of 30MBPS on their site?
It's unbelievable that everyone I know downloads at a minimum of 1.5MB/S and I can't get past 500ko/s.
Could it possibly be the modem?

    I didn't exceed 350k!
    With Voo, I have 1.7!

I have the great honor of announcing to you that... your connection is rotten!
I had even less at bcg (2.6 mbps, that is, 300 ko/s on the browser.)
I think the last option is to change ISP (to Voo, as it's the only one using a different line!)
