[Keyboard]Key Stuck Down

Question

Good evening everyone and happy holidays :)

I have a problem with my laptop: Sony Vaio PCG-K115S

The * key is active, as if someone is pressing it continuously.
At first glance, it seems normal. I removed it to clean but with no improvement. Sometimes it stops, then it resumes.
Of course, I can't work with the computer.
I formatted the PC and still the same problem.
At startup, the computer beeps for a while because it detects that a key is pressed.

Can we disable the asterisk key? Because it's impossible for me to use this computer properly.

So there you go, I just had a problem with a work laptop!!!!
I managed to solve it!!!
Can you believe it was the HP wireless mouse that was messing up the keyboard? Unbelievable, right????
So try unplugging your mouse and see!!!
It may not be time to throw away your computer just yet^^

Hi everyone

I have exactly the same problem as you Antoine, but for me it's the exclamation mark key that seemed stuck but isn't.
I have an Acer Aspire 9410 laptop. At first, it didn't do that; a while ago, I completely formatted it and had no issues for two weeks, but it quickly came back. I don't know what it could be due to. If anyone can help us please??

Hello,

I have the same problem as you with the "space" key.

I tried everything: antivirus - formatting the hard drive - changing the keyboard.
The problem persists.

I also have the same problem with the ² key; it is always pressed down with a startup beep and on the password screen, but when I use my PC after clearing the password box, there’s no stuck key, everything is normal!!!!!

Hello, I had the same problem with the 6 key, which also makes the dash (-), and I accidentally just pressed Shift and then that key, so a 6, and then nothing, no more problems. Give it a try, you never know.

- Disable certain keys on the keyboard:
We warn you right away: it's quite tricky!
1) Click on Start/Run then type: regedit
2) Open HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Keyboard Layout.
3) Create a binary value named Scancode Map
You will have this type of data: 0000
If you want to redirect one key to another, you can use a tool called RemapKey (see above)
If you want to disable the F1 key on your keyboard, you need to enter this type of values (I indicate on the left the byte number as it will appear as you enter) :
0000 : 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00
0008 : 02 00 00 00 00 00 03 00
0010 : 00 00 00 00
* Bytes 00 to 07 are reserved for the header.
* Byte 08 specifies the number of key redirections you are going to define plus 1. Since we are redirecting only one key, this byte will be equal to 02.
* Bytes 09 to 11 are always equal to zero.
* The code that defines the F1 key is as follows: 03 00.
* The last 4 bytes correspond to a terminator (00 00 00 00).
So if we place two bytes filled with zeros (00 00) in front, we do not assign anything to this key and thus disable it.
Note that a restart is necessary...

unplug your keyboard and turn it upside down to shake out any dirt that may have gotten inside without you knowing
give it a blast of compressed air
then plug it back in, still without power
reconnect the PC and restart

Hello,

I recently have the same problem with my Acer 5920. The 5 key is continuously active and the whole keyboard is frozen.

It's quite amusing because I disassembled it, cleaned it, and disconnected the keyboard. When I turned it on (with the keyboard unplugged), the key still remains active :)

There's nothing I can do, I even removed the BIOS battery but nothing works. The key remains active lol, which means I can't even set the clock.
