Function Key "Fn"

Hello,

I have a Toshiba laptop and on the F11 key, there's a small keyboard symbol that represents the numeric keypad. If I press Fn + F11, the numeric keypad is locked, it might be your issue.

I had the same problem with my laptop.
I solved it by holding down the Fn key and pressing the key that has the two inscriptions "arr déf" and "ver num"

And for MacBook users, I had blocked the fn keys, and I couldn't unlock them!!

I suppose that when you're working with the external keyboard, like me, you have the numbers on the numeric keypad? In other words, you have activated Num Lock with [Num Lock]?

If you have done that, then it's no surprise that the letter keys located farther to the right of your laptop's built-in keyboard have turned into number keys.
You simply need, if you want to use the laptop's built-in keyboard, to unlock the numeric mode by pressing the [Num Lock] key on your laptop's keyboard just once.
And then the numbers will turn back into letters.

And you do the opposite if you're using the external keyboard.

I hope this resolves your issue. It's a common problem on laptops when using an external keyboard. Unless, of course, the laptop is a 17'' or larger and has a numeric keypad. Personally, I can't do without it.

Thanks for the tip, I also had this problem on a Futjitsu-Siemens laptop, with the [FN] key permanently activated.
By just pressing [Num Lock], everything went back to normal!

To activate the numeric keypad on the Vaio, you need to click on Num LK/SCR LH; this will turn it off (the little light on the left (at the top right) should be off)
