Hi everyone!
So I have a bit of a problem with the sound in WoW. Let me explain:
Normally, when I play, I have the sound through my headset, and sometimes I play with the sound through the speakers. This time, I wanted to play through the speakers. I start the game and... no sound. I check if anything is unplugged, I look at the audio settings in the game and everything seems fine, so I restart the game. Still nothing. I then try listening to music on Windows Media and it works perfectly, as does playing other games. I then switched back to the headset and it works.
I don't quite see what the problem is, especially since it was working fine with the speakers before. Does anyone have an idea, please?

Lol it's simple guys ^^
You need to:
_ launch the game
_ select your character
_ press escape to access the menu
_ audio options
_ click on default at the bottom left
_ after the message: you need to restart to confirm, click ok
then relaunch and it should work! (normally)

Either you need to reread, or I expressed myself poorly when I said that I have already checked (more than once) in the game's audio settings and that there is nothing unusual.

For me, the technique of creating the line in WFT didn't work, and I removed the acceleration from my sound card with the same negative result... HELP!!! please

to solve your sound issue,
1st exit the game
2nd in the wow installation edit the file WTF\config.wtf with Word
create the line
SET SoundOutputSystem "1"
watch out for uppercase and lowercase letters and spaces
close Word (do you want to save) yes of course ...
restart the game
AND................................... THE RETURN

Scroll_of_stupidity, I have exactly the same problem as you. When I'm on the headset, it works perfectly, and as soon as I switch back to the speakers, there's no sound. I'm waiting for a solution, but I can't find any valid explanation for this strange bug for now...

Well, it's the same for me, it worked perfectly for a month, and now there's no sound, except that on other games it works very well, including music. I don't understand, I reinstalled it, and it's the same, it worked for 2 minutes and then the music just stopped. Any ideas, please?

THE thing: if you have Windows 7 (like me) type Sound in your search bar. Enable all the things you probably disabled when you were talking on Teamspeak or Skype (etc). Have fun! (Otherwise, fiddle a bit in the Sound menu of your computer to see if everything works in WoW!) I just noticed that the forum dates back to 2008... I hope you've already solved your problem XD

Hello! I have finally discovered the solution (at least I think it worked super well for me)
1st technique: Launch the game from your FILES and not from a shortcut on the desktop!
2nd technique: Copy and paste your World of Warcraft into a new folder and launch it once again from your files =) !!!

After having the same problem without finding quick and effective answers, I thought about it, and for me, it was simply enough to disable hardware acceleration in the audio options, and bam, it came back!!

Hello, I also have a big problem when I installed the game, there was sound and when I launched WoW for the first time there was no more sound, I don't know why it's not working... and I only have sound once every month and I've reinstalled and still nothing, it's driving me crazy so help me!! Bonjour, j’ai un petit problème qui est assez embarrassant. Tout le son marche bien sauf que quand je tire avec le flingue, je n’entends rien, il n’y a pas le bruit de mon fusil ou d’un arc, et toutes les armes éloignées n’ont pas de son. C’est quand même bizarre. Merci de me répondre rapidement.

Bonjour, j'ai un tout autre problème avant que je ne change d'interface et maintenant j'ai le son d'ambiance mais plus de son de sort ni d'émotion. Que dois-je faire ?

Either you're deaf, or you need to press escape on WOW, then sound, then adjust.
