Hello,

I just bought an Asus R500V and I can't find a way through the BIOS to boot from a bootable CD so that I can install another operating system!

I can't find any option in the BIOS to boot from the DVD drive or even a USB stick!!!

Thank you for your help.

When you start your PC, press F2 until you enter the BIOS.
Set an administrator password, save then restart your PC.
Go back to the BIOS via F2, you will need to log in as an administrator.
And there the CD drive should normally appear in the boot tab.
Set it as the first boot, save.

You can remove the administrator password that is no longer necessary.

Normally, it will boot from the CD first.

    Hello,

I have the same problem, but even with the method right above, no boot options are added after entering an admin password!

    Thank you for your help.

    Good evening Dr-Geek

I have gone into the BIOS several times where I don't see anything particular to boot from a CD. Moreover, I pressed "Escape" at startup to choose the mode, so if I want to select my normal hard drive, a USB key, or my CD, but it only recognizes my hard drive where Windows 8 is installed!!!

I don't understand, there must be a way to boot from my CD!!!

      Hello,
I’m in the process of rebuilding the same PC for a friend, and it’s the same issue, impossible to boot from a CD or DVD in the BIOS. In short, I’ve never seen such a mess in a PC ^^

for Asus R500V, "Escape" will give you the boot options.

Normally, you just have to insert the CD, restart, and it will tell you to press any key if you want to boot from the CD.
If that doesn't happen, go into BIOS like you tried and find: Boot (start) and check if there isn't a "submenu" where the boot order is listed, and where you would need to put the CD first.

    Hoping I've helped you.

    Dr-Geek.

Unfortunately, I do not yet fully master Windows 8.
But have you checked if your drivers are up to date to use the CD drive or the USB port?
Otherwise, if you have another computer at hand, you could connect your laptop's hard drive to the desktop and perform the installation through the desktop? Simply select the right hard drive by choosing a custom installation and taking the correct partition that will designate your laptop's hard drive.

    Hoping to have helped you.

Yes, everything is up to date for my drivers, etc...

And I only have this PC, so I'll wait to see if someone has a solution or has already encountered the same issue as me who can help me

    Thank you!
