my TV is crackling

Hello,
My problem is that I just bought an LG plasma TV 42PA4500. The picture is truly remarkable. However, there is a permanent buzzing that is very annoying. It must be coming from the panel because when I turn off the picture and leave the sound on (which you can do with this TV in eco mode), the buzzing stops. When the picture comes back, the buzzing returns as well. On the forums, I've seen this noise phenomenon referred to as buzz, but I can't find anything to reduce it. A technician tells me it's a normal noise, but in the evening with the sound at 5 or 6, it's really painful. Is there a particular setting (I have the factory settings)? Are there any foams or covers that can be attached to the TV? If you have a way to help me, I would be very grateful.

My buzzing problem is still present. So I've disassembled the device.
And there I notice that the noise seems to be coming from three distinct places.
Some sort of small coils. It's a shame I can't send photos.... I still tried to move them with the TV on (and with a plastic stick - I value my life!) but nothing seems to stop this buzzzzz. It seems to me that I can't do anything more.... if you have any ideas....

"A technician told me it's a normal noise, but at night with the sound at 5 or 6, it's really annoying."  I have the same noise with a Samsung plasma, and indeed it's normal for plasmas. You should try to lower the contrast level, avoid placing the screen too close to a wall or a sound-reflecting surface, and keep an adequate distance between the screen and yourself. Avoid "masking" the back of the screen because in addition to heating, your screen may not like it...  Otherwise, I agree with you, the picture is stunning on my 43' plasma and the sound is good too, but not everything is perfect.  Enjoy watching.

Thank you for your response. But it's a shame that with today's technology, TVs make this kind of noise. And it's still new, what's it going to be like in 2 or 3 years? My old cathode-ray TV was quieter.....
For your information, my couch is 3.50m from the TV. I'm already considering changing it for an LED, and it's only been 10 days!!!!!!!!
I've tried tightening and loosening the screws on the back cover, but nothing, it's really an internal vibration.
If anyone has other solutions...........

The "noise" is related to Plasma technology, which involves electrifying a gas in the panel to create images, somewhat like in neon tubes.
For the same screen size, the cost of an LED screen is often 150 to 200€ higher than for a Plasma.
In 2 years, you'll replace it with a more efficient model, but I don't think the "noise" will be louder; it will rather be the power supply that gives out, but well, the warranty on these screens is at least 2 years, so...

Hello

If you have an output for an external amplifier, maybe you can connect your hi-fi system or any sound system to it.

This would allow you to neutralize the sound from the TV, but I’m surprised that this noise is so significant. Are there devices like microwaves, speakers, or cordless phones in the vicinity? If so, try to keep them away from the television.

Go through the TV’s configuration menu, and by activating Dolby, it might reduce the noise. Also check the other settings and test them.

It's related to plasma technology! If you really find the noise too loud, check with customer service or sell your TV and get an LED.

Personally, my Samsung, by optimizing its position in relation to the wall and the window in my living room, I hardly have any buzzing and I enjoy my 43' at 100%...

Go check the forum or LG's FAQs to verify that you've properly positioned your screen and optimized the settings.

If it is indeed the coils that are making the noise, you have limited options such as placing the television on something non-rigid, like polyester foam, which will dampen some vibrations.

You can enclose the television in a piece of furniture that will create a casing around it but still allows for good ventilation.

I'm sorry for you; I think it must be very disappointing. It's true that testing in a store doesn't allow you to realize this kind of problem due to the surrounding noise.

Positioning it along a load-bearing wall will amplify the reasoning less than a partition wall, for example, and in a rectangular room, it’s better to place it lengthwise rather than widthwise, and closer to the ground rather than elevated.

What does the manufacturer's specification say regarding its positioning?

Well, there doesn't seem to be a solution. A friend bought the same one as mine, a LG 42PA4500, and his also makes the same noise. The brighter the screen, the more it buzzes. In the evening, he adjusts the volume like I do to 6 or 7, and he can hear the buzz, but it doesn’t seem to bother him that much. I'm a bit disappointed with my purchase. I’ve tested all possible settings, but nothing works. I might take it to a TV repair shop to see if they can put some sort of resin on certain components. I saw that online, but I don't really believe in it... If anyone has tried it...

Hello, I have a Philips LCD 47PFL5604H that is 3 years old. For about 5 months, it has been making a buzzing noise. I opened it up and noticed that the noise was coming from 2 coils.
Can someone tell me what I should/can do?
Change the board, just change the coils, or do nothing?

I have the same noise problem with a "Stream bm 3235 hdtv" (Spanish parts) bought in 2013. The sound vibrates with a display quality superior to Samsung
(I'm talking about Algerian assembly Samsung intended for Africa). When a plane passes in a movie, my TV vibrates.
A friend of mine has the same TV model and there is no vibration.
So, I placed PC speakers
and the vibration problem disappeared.
The sound goes up to 100 without the speakers; I don't exceed 10 before the TV starts vibrating.
But the speakers are not a solution.
