DISK SPACE INSUFFICIENT BY MISTAKE Solved

Question

Hello everyone,

I am trying to install an excellent dictionary (Antidote) for my job but as soon as I launch the installation file (of the type Windows Installer Package), an error message appears almost instantly telling me "Insufficient disk space." Yet my 80GB disk still has 35.2GB free...

Honestly, I don't understand. I've turned the problem over in my mind from every angle, and I'm floundering.

Please, help me! Thank you in advance.

for those who have the same problem, it's probably the drive formatted as "FAT32"  format it to "NTFS"; I solved the same problem this way

Hello,

Is your disk not partitioned?

If not, I recommend you clean your computer with "CCleaner."

CCleaner is a program that allows you to clean Windows: temporary files, internet cache, registry cleaning, etc.

I just did all of that but still with no success... For your information, my disk is FAT32. Does that change anything?

Chkdsk /R on Fat32, I'm sure it doesn't work.

So there's always this issue of allocation to free space
which is wrong!

I've never seen data loss when going from Fat32 to NTFS. But well.....

NTFS is good too: here is the command Convert C: /FS:NTFS, + Info:

Do you really want to keep your drive as Fat32?

The issue was indeed the type of my disk. FAT32 limited me in the size of the installed files, while NTFS seems to be much more flexible. I converted it, tried again, and it worked! THANK YOU SO MUCH!

Question...

I have the same issue with Azureus that prevents me from downloading files of 4GB and more.

I also thought about the FAT32 issue... so I specified to my Azureus to save my files on another drive... which is in NTFS... the problem is still present.

I really don't want to risk the health of my drive in FAT32 by trying to convert it and lose its content.

It's happening on my external multimedia hard drive, but if I switch to NTFS, won't that mess it up and will it still work on my TV for multimedia????

I have the same issue, I have an 8GB USB drive with a FAT32 file system. I want to put a 5.5GB file on it, but I'm running out of space. I thought about compressing the file but I'm not sure which type of compression file to use. I know there are different types and each has a specific use.
What are the best options in this case?
