    Re,

Well, I think you followed the documentation and modified the first lines of your file.

Maybe you are bothered by the Windows option 'hide extensions for known file types' which is enabled by default (big mistake by Microsoft in my opinion).
In Windows 7, in the explorer go to 'organize / folder and search options', 'view' tab, uncheck 'hide extensions for known file types'.
Change the extension and test again.

Whatever the result, I advise you to keep this option unchecked. Too dangerous in addition to not being able to properly manage extensions.

try to rename, then in rename instead of .txt you put .ksi and it should change the extension.

    Good evening,

isn't it rather a .ski that you want?

I unchecked "hide file extensions for....." but still no result

when I try to convert the file to .ksi format, it gives me the extension without any problem but when I try to edit the .ksi file and save it again, it tells me that the file is in .txt format and not .ksi
I tried again to check the extension by importing the file into the software, and it displays a message saying that the file is not in the correct format.

Do not talk about conversion, it's just a simple change of extension.

Are you correctly placing the header lines as specified in the documentation?
      And respecting the separators:
      ; for the data
      , as a decimal separator

      2) in a text editor:
      Open the file and modify the first lines so that there are 3 lines of text, then "start date;
end date" followed by the series.
      For example:
      Year
      Rate
      Temperature
      1900;2006
      1900;21.63333333
      1901;21.08333333
      1902;19.95
      1903;19.56666667
      ...
      Save the document as .txt.
      3) In a Windows explorer, change the extension from .txt to .ksi

I have the same question but I didn't understand how to resolve it
        ) in a text editor:

And from Excel, you have saved it as a CSV by changing the file type in 'save as...'.
You didn't just change the .xls extension, did you?
If you are using Word, you also need to change the file type when saving as a text file (not .doc)

If you read the file correctly in Notepad (or another text editor) and you see your_file.ksi in the explorer, it's the content that doesn't please him, double-check.
And test with a few lines of data, it's enough to check if the header is correct, and it avoids potential errors in the other lines.

The best thing, as suggested by balancedespaiment, is to consult the creators/users of this software, http://www.hydrosciences.org/spip.php?article239

      Hello,

      Please, a question
when you changed the file format (final format), did you find the requested format directly in the extensions????
I put in the file name, for example, précipitations.ksi, but this extension no longer appears in the type (I don't have this extension in the type)

      and thank you very much

It would be nice to say what it resulted in...
You paste the text into the notepad, you click 'save as...', 'file name: test.ksi, type: 'all files (*.*), then 'Save'
