Same problem. Fixed: after a Windows update, the sound card reverted to 5.1 while I only have two speakers. So I switched back to stereo and there you go.
RESOLVED!
I managed to restore the internet sound by
-reinstalling Adobe Flash:
https://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/
-updating Windows

Hi.
Open Windows Media Player, then tools menu, options, file type tab, check all and close.
For the rest, the cautious internet user uses Firefox and can watch videos online.
Give it a try, you'll see, and forget about IE. (which, by the way, is not updated on your machine).

If the audio problem only occurs on the internet, it's probably the audio codecs... You'll need to install a pack like klcodec then...
Hello everyone! I don't post often but I think this time it's worth it! I've read several topics and I believe no one has talked about this yet or created a thread about it.
Just a few minutes ago, I had a sound issue on the internet.
Many know what it is: no sound on YouTube videos or elsewhere, but on the PC, no problem!
One of the topics gave me the idea to search online on Google for "internet sound issue" and I stumbled upon a forum where the problem was solved.
I tried it, and it works!!
So here's the procedure you need to follow (at least for those who have Windows XP, like me):
"Here is the procedure you need to follow:
Start Menu
Run
Type: regedit
OK
You arrive in the registry editor
In the list go to the location:
My Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Drivers32
From there, in the right table, right-click
select "new"
select "string value"
type "wavemapper" (without the quotes of course)
Once it's created, double-click on it
insert: msacm32.drv
validate with the Enter key.

Damn, the PowerMax, thank you a thousand times for this golden trick because I gave it a shot even though I'm on Vista and I didn't believe it.... but I did it and it worked right away even though I've been struggling with this problem for months thinking it might be a virus. I've been checking the forums for a solution for a long time, and you gave me the answer, thanks again!!!!!!!!!
So for those who have this problem and are on Vista or XP, try the PowerMax trick that starts with run, etc... Under Windows, go through start, then accessories, then run, and the steps are the same as for XP; THERE YOU GO!
I'm finally going to enjoy the sound, thank you.

Hey everyone
so I did all the steps you suggested, everything was done correctly but still no sound on the internet :(
I only see one solution left...formatting...not much choice in my opinion
Thanks to everyone anyway

The same thing happened to me, you go to your explorer/tools/windows update.
You reinstall and then update (quick)
You restart
And normally you have your sound.

Good evening.
Here I have the same kind of problems:
since yesterday, I'm having an issue with my sound, but only on the Internet! Because when I play a file on my PC there's no problem (even if Windows Media Player 11 (yes, I know...) forced me to install a module so that it could play my mp3s when it knew how to do so before... but anyway). But as soon as I want to play a video on the Internet for example, well, I have no sound, even though I've never had any problems before. If someone can help me, thanks :D
John.
PS: for your information, I no longer have an icon for sound at the bottom right of my taskbar... and when I open the Windows Sound Recorder, everything is greyed out, I can't do anything, even though I have a microphone that was working until now...
Config: Windows XP, IE7, Firefox 2.0.

Hello,
Personally, I managed to solve my problem by doing a simple system restore to the configuration of a few days earlier. In fact, I later discovered that it was because some audio codecs were missing, I don't know why they were removed, maybe it was due to the Windows update I did earlier. Try it like this (start => programs => accessories => system tools => system restore), but you will lose the programs installed in the meantime for example.

Yes, it seems I’ve seen your posts... The problem is that I don’t have any system restore points prior to my big issue. And indeed, I had also uninstalled stuff that seemed unnecessary, and it’s probably related. So I downloaded audio codec packs (klite) and updated my drivers, but I’m still not managing... I’m fed up!
Hello everyone, I've tried all the tricks you've suggested but nothing has worked, still no sound on the internet. If someone has another solution, that would be really nice :d
Thanks in advance
Thanks in advance
Hello, so first of all if you no longer have sound on the internet it's because your codecs are outdated or you accidentally deleted them through Windows Media Player. But no worries to get sound back on the internet you just need to reactivate them in the following way
If El Nino and Max haven't helped you then this solution will work:
Here is the K-lite full pack; It's a kind of compilation of all the codecs. Click on the following link, and select "save file" then install.
The link: https://www.01net.com/outils/telecharger/windows/Multimedia/codecs/fiches/tele33052.html
Enjoy your listening :p (If your problems persist contact me!)

Here it is, the same problem as everyone else, the manipulations don't work, so if someone has found a solution other than all those that have been mentioned, it would be nice to let us know. My problem occurred after formatting my computer, I have sound but not on the internet, but when I turn up the sound to the max I can still hear just a little bit.
Thank you in advance...

Same problem as everyone else, I also accidentally deleted Avrack and reinstalled it. I now have sound on iTunes and Windows Media but still not on YouTube, Dailymotion...
I tried to follow the PowerMax instructions but it doesn't work
Please help me, I beg you.... =(

Thank you El Nino, I didn't have sound on the internet anymore, thanks to your method it works perfectly!
Thank you!
Thank you!
Well, I tried everything you said to do and I still don't have any sound. I don't understand what could have happened. My dad unplugged the PC to set it up in my garage during a party, and when he plugged everything back in, I no longer had sound with the internet. Please help me, I’m really fed up with this!!!
Hi everyone,
I have the same problem as everyone else, I can never get sound on the internet, only what I play in Windows Media Player gives me sound... I don't understand where it's coming from, I've tried the PowerMax technique but it doesn't work, the same goes for El Nino's method because I can't save the text document as "missing.reg" apparently (or maybe I messed up the manipulation). I've also tried the method that involves reinstalling Adobe but the reinstallation fails... I actually have quite a few problems with my computer.
If someone could help me find a solution to the sound problem, that would be really nice!

Hello, I have a sound problem. I can see the video but there is no sound. I am doing everything that is asked of me but it is not working. I have Windows Internet Explorer. Please help me, thank you.
Hi,
In the same situation as you [under Vista] (painful!!!) I struggled all evening reading several forums. I tried many proposed solutions .. but nothing worked. Until ...
Eureka!!!
I'll tell you the trick, without knowing if it will be The Solution of the Year ...
* Disable Realtek: - control panel
- device manager
- sound, video and game controllers
- realtek high definition audio
- and in the driver tab, choose: disable
* This leads to Windows restarting
* Once restarted, I re-enabled that famous Realtek
And yay, a mysterious force worked: it worked, the sound on the web is back (which seems strange to me, by the way: my computer might just have needed a good restart ...)
Anyway, if some try this method and it works ... well, good for you! Otherwise, good luck to you!

Hello hello !!
I had a sound problem only on the internet, on my HP Pavilion / Win7 PC !!
I searched and searched and found nothing ^^
Until the day I found it ^^
==> actually ::
The little "sound" icon at the bottom on the taskbar, when you click on it, it opens a volume bar, below there is a link "mixer"
This opens several volume bars !! You need to turn up the sound of Adobe Flash to the max !! And then voilà, the sound on the internet is back to max !!!!!!!!!
If there is no Adobe bar showing, open a program that uses Adobe (games, internet, video, Deezer, etc...)
Hoping this helps you ++

sugarleo, if you don't have a restore point, I don't really see how you could do it, but maybe there's a solution, I don't know.
Try going to the device manager, right-click on audio codecs => properties => properties tab and see if you have a lot of detected codecs... if there's not much, it probably comes from that, but I'm stuck.
hcgaia, you can do the same thing. But just make sure you have the right updated drivers and that, in your sound options, you have everything you need enabled (main volume, wave sound, SW synth, etc...). Otherwise, you can try a system restore like I suggested earlier, that might solve your problem.
Good luck.
ps: sorry for the response time...

Hello, my computer is a Windows Vista Home Premium edition, I just reset my computer but I don't know how to reinstall the Internet. I use a Hama Wi-Fi key that I connect directly to my computer with a cable. I can't find the Hama CD to install the Internet. When I click on "Connect to a network," it says: "this connection is not available due to a modem or network card problem." What should I do?! Thank you for answering me quickly! :D
