My computer only uses 5% of the network

Hello,

I just bought an Asus G75, I connected it via WiFi to my Livebox. When I check the status of my connection, its speed is 65 Mb/s, but when I open Task Manager and go to the Network tab, I see that I am using 5% of the network, or even less... I don’t understand why, I am in the room just next to it, about 5-6 meters from the box. After some searching, I tried TweakingDUN but it didn’t improve anything...

Do you have any idea how to increase my network?

Thank you and have a good day. :)

Configuration: Windows 7 / Safari 537.1

    Hello!

You’re using 5% of the Wi-Fi network, what exactly are you doing? It all depends on your activities...

Well, for example, if I download software from the internet, for instance from 01.net, I don’t exceed 300 KB/s and it stays around 5% even though it should use as much as possible, right? And then I have a “special desktop” where I can see my connection in real time, and it doesn’t go above 250 KB...
How can we boost an internet connection?

No, it doesn’t have even almost any relation. The 5% of 65 Mbits/s is not your Internet connection. It’s the local wifi connection between the PC and the box. You can probably go beyond 5% usage, with other activities. For example, copying a large file to another computer connected directly to the box via Ethernet. But not up to 100%: that’s impossible. This 65 Mbits/s is the theoretical synchronization speed, unattainable in practice.

5% of 65 Mbits/s is 3.25 Mbits/s, i.e. about 400 kio/s. Many other factors come into play, not just the wifi: Maybe it’s the site 01.net that is slow? Or maybe you have a sluggish ADSL line? Or something else...

Anyway: Wifi is only one link in the transmission chain from 01.net to your PC. And this chain has many other links. It’s always the weakest link that wins, and that imposes its slowness on the whole chain. Identify this weakest link, and bypass it: the whole chain will be faster (at the speed of the second weakest link).

      Absolutely,
and there the weakest link is certainly the ADSL connection, hard to bypass.
on the other hand, if he puts 2 PCs on his network and transfers files between them, he will surely blow his 5%.

Okay. Yes, you're right, I am between 300 and 400 KB/s. Well, my ADSL is sluggish, too bad...
Thanks for the answers, I didn’t know that the weaker one wins! :)
