Make a file downloadable

Hello,

I would like visitors to my site to be able to download certain files. I have not found any information, despite visiting several sites, explaining how to first offer a view of a list of files, and secondly, to create a "download" link for specific files.

    Thank you for replying so quickly.
    I followed your instructions, but there is still a problem.
    These are audio files in *.wma format that should normally prompt the opening of xp.windows_media to listen. In fact, nothing happens (I get an "unable to display the page"). Moreover, I would like people to
    download the file to their local computer first, and only then listen to it, as happens on download sites.

    Another question: which software allows converting different types of audio files, and which software allows making cuts in a *.waw file?

    In this case, you need to tell internet users to right-click on the link and choose "Save target as...".

    To create a "download link," simply upload the file to your site, then create a hyperlink to that file.

    The visitor's browser will decide, based on the file type, whether to display it, prompt to download it, or open it directly with a specific application...

    another solution could be to zip your file to force the "Save As" dialog to appear.
