Hello, I am coming to ask you for help with FileZilla Server.
I set up an FTP server with FileZilla Server 0.9.22.
It was working fine, my users were downloading and uploading without any issues, until I restarted my PC.
That is to say, when I open FileZilla Server 0.9.22, I get this kind of message.
(connecting to server...
Connected, waiting for authentication
Protocol error: Auth failed, closing connection.
Connection to server closed.
Trying to reconnect in 5 seconds
Reconnecting to server...) I have already uninstalled and reinstalled it.... so if you have any idea, thank you...!!!
P.S.: I am on Free unbundled behind a Linksys router (WRT54GX), I have already opened port 21. As I said, it was working fine.
I wish you a Happy New Year and best wishes for 2007, ciao ciao

The problems often stem from the IP address.
The IP address of the computer on the internet, if a static IP has not been requested, changes at least when the computer is restarted; this is why FileZilla Server cannot connect.
To have a virtual IP address, install Dyndns (free). It will continuously link the (even changing) IP and a domain name ending with something like dyndns.ws that you will have chosen when installing Dyndns.
Then, if you are in router mode, you need to redirect the ports to the computer on which the server is located and configure that computer to have a fixed internal network address.
I know, it's a bit of a hassle!!!

Hello, good morning and happy new year!
I have a concern; I don't understand how to admit another IP other than 127.0.0.1.
When I start FileZilla server under this IP, it starts fine, and I can access the FTP via the FileZilla client.
But as soon as I change the IP at startup, the server doesn't start at all...
Also, I don't understand how to connect with another computer?!? Please help.
Thank you.
P.S. Ah, I just managed to connect via another computer on my network by entering the computer's name as the host...
But how do I do it over the internet? What is the address or name? I don't understand...

Attention,
what are you talking about? There are 2 types of connections on these servers: the administration via an administration port and the administration client
the administration port is defined when the server is installed: 14147 by default.
then users via the classic ftp port 21 (modifiable via the server administration, of course).
these 2 connections should not be confused.

Pour accéder à votre serveur FTP local depuis Internet, vous devez utiliser l'adresse IP publique de votre connexion Internet comme hôte dans des applications comme Internet Explorer ou FileZilla. Voici les étapes à suivre :
1. **Adresse IP publique** : Utilisez un service comme "What is my IP" pour trouver votre adresse IP publique.

If you are connected to the internet via a NAT router, you need to forward port 21 to the private (and fixed) IP address of your server.
To connect from the outside, you must use your public IP address or your domain name if you are using a dynamic DNS

Well, that's cool, but I'm really not great with networks. I had already struggled with a server OS and IIS, but I never succeeded...
I'm willing to try the manipulation again, but don't you have an app with a big button in the middle that we can click and it works, pffff
I'm stressed about it...
I tried using no-ip.com for a redirect for a dynamic IP
but I can't get anything to work
Hosts / Redirects
No-IP Free Domains
Host: IP / URL Action: no-ip.org
diablobros.no-ip.org 83.XXX.XXX.XXX [IP]
Do I have to allow anonymous connections?
I don't know anymore?
Thanks a lot for your help anyway?

I have the same problem as diablobros
it works perfectly on localhost but when I use my IP nothing happens and with no-ip (correctly configured I think with the client program and everything) nothing either.

Now a new problem... I searched everywhere but I can't find anything
it might be at the level of the livebox???
it tells me
State: Connected
State: Retrieving the directory list...
Command: PWD
Response: 257 "/" is current directory.
Command: TYPE A
Response: 200 Type set to A
Command: PASV
Response: 421 Can't create socket
Error: Could not retrieve directory listing
Hello,
I'm like a WIZARD...
The server runs internally via 127.0.0.1, okay
Through the web, my "clients" usually manage to connect, but some do not... it's quite an uncontrolled situation.
So I'm testing via gene6ftp...
And it ends up with
> PASV
* Connect data stream passively
< 421 Can't create socket
* Bad PASV/EPSV response: 421
I'm trying to understand this socket story like a WIZARD???
On an English forum, I heard that it was about switching to passive mode, but what is this PASSIVE mode?
And on this same forum, someone "resolved" this issue by (from what I understood) tweaking these log files via a script... but honestly, I didn't understand much!
Has anyone among you made any progress?

Hello, I'm just asking a question. I use FileZilla and every time I use it, it keeps disconnecting from the server even though the internet is still working. I just want to know if this is a problem or if it's normal. Also, when I want to reconnect, it asks me if I want to cut the current connection. Thank you, and Happy New Year!
