Acer screen issue "no signal" since yesterday

Hello,

I am writing to you regarding a problem encountered yesterday. I have a fairly recent Acer Aspire PC (4GB DDR3, 1TB, Nvidia GT320) with a 22" Acer LCD screen. I turned it on yesterday morning and everything was working well as usual, but when I returned to it in the early afternoon, the screen was black and there was a "no signal" message... The PC was connected via DVI, I tried VGA and it was the same... However, when I connect my laptop via VGA to the screen, it works. I eventually tried connecting the tower to my TV via HDMI (the only remaining option, and the monitor is not equipped with it) and it WORKS. So I have a screen that still works (VGA laptop) and a graphics card that also works (HDMI). Therefore, I don't know where the problem lies and what the solution is to re-associate the two --> Maybe an HDMI to VGA adapter.

    It must be your DVI cable that's not working, try buying a new one because if it were a problem with the screen or your PC, you wouldn't be able to access it via HDMI or VGA! ;)

    Yes, but I forgot to mention that the tower connected to the screen via VGA isn't working. I'm using the same VGA cable as with the laptop, so it's not a cable problem!?

    Hi

    According to what you’re saying, it's the tower's VGA that isn’t working

    (the screen works in VGA with a laptop, and the tower works in HDMI on the TV, but the tower's VGA doesn't work on the screen)

    So I would say: indeed, an HDMI>VGA adapter seems to be the solution, or a screen with an HDMI output, or replacing the graphics card with one that has a VGA output

    But before that: check in the device manager that there are no driver issues for the VGA and try to update the driver
    and make sure the connections are good

    Note: if the PC is still under warranty, have it go through customer service

    Thank you for your prompt responses. I will reconnect it to the TV and check the drivers. The PC is no longer under warranty for a short time now... it’s really strange what’s happening because it seems to be coming from the graphics card even though the HDMI works. Thank you both, I will keep you updated.

      News about the issue:

      I connected the tower to my TV, no issues reported in the device manager and I reinstalled the Nvidia VGA driver found on Acer's support site, and despite all that it still does not work in VGA (neither on my TV nor on the monitor). I therefore plan to buy an HDMI>VGA or HDMI>DVI adapter tomorrow.

      If you have any other suggestions? Please send them to me.

    I'm calling on you again! ^^

    I've searched and apparently a HDMI male > VGA female adapter doesn't exist since HDMI (digital signal) and VGA (analog signal) are incompatible. There is HDMI > DVI, but since I'm not sure if the DVI port on my monitor still works, I would have preferred to go with VGA.

    So apparently a HDMI > VGA converter is necessary, but the prices aren't what I expected...

    Otherwise, would a HDMI > DVI adapter followed by a DVI to VGA adapter work??

    Please help me.

    I had this problem yesterday: I plugged my PC back in after being off for 4 months and "No signal" was displayed. I learned that it could be dust, and indeed after dusting it, mainly under the fan, it worked perfectly again.
