Black screen on startup (HP ProBook 4515s)

Hello,

I've recently encountered a problem that used to be temporary (it would appear and disappear after a day), but is now permanent!
I'm facing a black screen on startup with my HP Probook 4515s, which was provided by the Conseil Général des Bouches-du-Rhône...

Here's the quick diagnosis I've made:

-No disk usage (the LED doesn't light up)
-Same issue without the hard drive
-Same issue without the RAM sticks
-Same issue without the battery (even with a new one)
-When I connect the PC to an external monitor, nothing happens
-No change in fan rhythms

The PC remains in a total standstill, doing nothing, stuck on its black screen indefinitely...
I've already tried the troubleshooting steps found online, like pressing the Power button for 10 seconds, etc...

Here's my configuration:

HP Probook 4515s
AMD Sempron
2 GB of RAM
Integrated graphics card (ATI)
Dual Boot (Ubuntu/Linux Mint)
450 GB HDD

Any ideas? I'm leaning towards a possible connection issue at the BIOS level...

UPDATE: I forgot to mention that the backlight is off.

    Problem partially resolved by starting the PC upside down after 3 days without trying...
    However, it happens again at every startup; I have to reboot each time by removing the battery for 5 minutes...
    It was indeed a short circuit on the BIOS.

    Sorry for the delay,
    I have also installed Linux on my laptop, so at startup, I am offered either Linux or Windows 7..

    Usually, by turning off the PC by holding the power button for 5 seconds, at the next startup, a message appears saying that the PC has been turned off...

    To say, that even blindly I cannot access Windows at startup,
    only Linux.. (maybe)

    I really have nothing on the screen, I still tried ctrl alt del, it doesn't work, .. thank you for your help.

    Hello Sam, I have exactly the same problem as you, but I don't really understand your trick to make it work ^^ I hope you'll reply to me since the topic is a bit old, and also, what is a BIOS short circuit? If anyone else has a solution, I'm all ears :)

    Hi there ;)

    Well, actually I'm not really sure...
    At that moment, my PC had made a few movements, and I think it got a bit of a hard knock during a car trip...

    For the repair, I recovered my hard drive and installed it in the broken PC that a friend lent me; with the two, I managed to make one.

    That's all I can help you with... Sorry, good luck.

    PS: I had a screw wandering inside the PC because I had put it back together wrong once; check if that's the case for you too...

    Hello,

    I am experiencing the same issue with a client's machine, and while I was following your comments, it eventually started without me understanding why. I noted that during its startup phase, the Caps Lock indicator flashed 3 times. On another Compaq (same brand), it flashed five times. I deduce that these flashes have a meaning. But what could it be? If anyone knows the correspondence, I would appreciate it!

      Shift key blinks 5 times = Motherboard defective (checked)

      The caps lock flashing simply indicates that there is a problem with the BIOS; cold boot may work or clear CMOS + flash the BIOS.

    Hello,
    exactly the same for a week, my screen on the hp4515 s starts up, the LEDs on the keyboard are blinking, I hear the hard drive spinning, but the screen remains black,

    removed the battery and power supply, stayed 45 seconds pressing it as recommended by some, nothing to do, it doesn't work !! screen still black !!

    any advice ??

    Another method to test...

    1. you start your PC on a black screen.

    2. ctrl+alt+delete -> open task manager

    3. click on file -> new task

    4. here launch your web browser so, if you have:

    4.1 internet explorer: iexplore.exe

    4.1 firefox: firefox.exe

    5. download adwcleaner: https://www.commentcamarche.net/telecharger/securite/2759-adwcleaner/

    6. once installed just click scan

    7. it asks you to repair the checked items: Clean

    8. and then it asks you to restart.

    9. upon restarting you have a list of the deleted objects.
