My computer is making a phone-like noise.

Hello,

Here it is, I have my laptop (Toshiba Satellite L735, Windows 7) that sometimes makes a strange noise that sounds quite like a phone ringtone. I’ve looked all over the net, I haven’t found anything about it. The noise continues intermittently until I restart it, and it stops when I mute the sound.

I should mention that I was infected by this s@l0per!e of Eorezo who sends me ads for phone apps; however, when the noise is there, I don’t get any spam opening.

Does anyone have an idea of what it could be?

Thanks in advance for your answers.

Not sure if it's a virus. It could be a program that emits a sound under certain conditions.

A firewall, an antivirus, a background service.

The best thing to do is to open the Task Manager (Ctrl Alt Delete) and manually close non-essential processes to find the culprit ^^

Once detected, find its settings, or, if you don’t use it, uninstall it.

      It's called "a virus"."

Why cry wolf when many programs sometimes emit sounds in the background when they are poorly configured.

    Hello.

"Does anyone have an idea of what it might be?"
    Well yes.
    A virus.
    Not a very complicated riddle.

Obviously I thought of a virus but it just makes noise. My PC is also getting quite hot. Could it be an “warning” to alert about overheating?
