Good evening,
I would like to know if anyone knows a solution to my problem. I am working with version CS5 of InDesign:
.
I created an InDesign document of about 20 pages that was working very well. I was in the process of finalizing it last night, I saved it as .idd as well as in pdf to have a real preview. However, this morning when I opened it to finish it, it displayed error code 2 indicating that my 'file was damaged' even though I hadn't changed anything at all.
.
When I reopened InDesign alone, it again froze displaying "InDesign has stopped working." I tried several times without success. My software absolutely would not open, so I uninstalled and reinstalled it.
.
Now the software starts correctly, but when I try to open my file it says "recovering files." If I click "yes," it freezes and closes; if I click "no" or "cancel," it tells me that my file is damaged...
What to do? I have already tried deleting the preferences on startup but nothing...
Furthermore, now it also damages other files, as I quickly recreated one to test and it doesn't want to open that either!! It opens on my second PC but not the first document I created.
.
.
In summary:
- Is there a program to repair a damaged .idd file?
- What does error code #2 correspond to?
- What can I do for my software since it apparently no longer works properly?
Configuration: Windows 7 / Firefox 13.0.1

Check if you have properly updated to version 5. (Note that version 5.5 is a different version, not an update).
By attempting to open your files, you are altering them...
Try to find the file you have attempted to open the least and rename it to .inx. Then try to open it again.
However, it seems that your InDesign is no longer stable... you should completely uninstall it before reinstalling and updating.
Contact Adobe's hotline for the procedure.
