Find the damaged or incompatible jpeg file in a file

Good evening,

I am a novice in this area: I had to make changes to a file, but I cannot export it. In fact, the export stops at 23% and tells me "an error occurred while reading a JPEG image. The image is damaged or incompatible. Re-save it with different settings and try again."
I would like to know which image is causing the issue, but I don't know the procedure to find it!

Thank you for your help!

If you are in InDesign, the first thing to do is to check the errors indicated by the software in the "File / Package" menu.
In the "Links and Images" section, you will find information... see if anything seems unusual.

To locate an image that is causing a problem, you need to proceed by elimination. Export while limiting the number of pages to isolate the problematic page.

Once found, delete images on the page and redo exports of that page until it works.

    Hello,

    Thank you for your response!
I will follow your advice and export by limiting the number of pages!

I found the problematic image. I have removed it.
I then proceeded to create the PDF, but another image blocked the export. I repeated the same process to find it, and the PDF was correctly generated from the page I had indicated. I then tried to export the entire file again, but it was impossible!
After several attempts, I managed to export it in 2 parts, and that's what I don't understand now: why can I export my file in 2 parts without any image issues, but not in its entirety (another image blocks at that point). Is it a bug (I should mention that I retrieved a file created on Mac while I am on PC), is my file too large to export entirely (the graphic designer did not have this problem during the first export)…??

If I send the file in 2 parts to the printer, will they be able to merge them into a single file on their end?

    Thank you for your insights!

It happens that the computer's resources are not sufficient to generate the PDF.. This may come from the settings you used in the export configuration...
For example, if you request JPEG compression for images that are already in JPG, you force the machine to redo all the calculations...

If you have correctly optimized your work, meaning you used rescaled images at the right resolution and not huge ones rescaled in InDesign, your document will be lighter...

In theory, providing 2 files should not be an issue, but if you are working with an online service provider,... they are not very fond of that...

I finally asked the printer to take care of the two files; he will combine them himself.

Thank you for your advice and your responsiveness :)
