    Hello,
I have the same problem, it stays on "Welcome" with a Sony HX725. I replaced the two 3900µF/10V capacitors on the power board and it's working again as good as new. Be careful: use "high temperature" capacitors (105°C).

    Hello,

I have the same problem with my RDR-HX910! It remains stuck on welcome... Do you have a solution (since December)?

Thank you in advance for your response,

    Betty

    Hello,

I just returned from vacation and I have the same problem with a RDR-HX725 "WELCOME
LOAD ON then POWER OFF". I can't find any solutions. Have you solved the problem since February 2007? Thank you

    Anne

    Hello,

indeed, nothing to be done! The repair cost amounted to €420... my luck is that the device was out of warranty just recently... Sony's customer service covered part of the costs! Otherwise, it's better to buy a new one :)

    best regards, Marianne

I have a Sony RDR HX 825, and I have the same issue. It works perfectly, and then suddenly nothing works, neither the remote nor the DVD. I have to turn it off. When I turn it back on, it goes to welcome, then the HDD lights up blue, then load, and power off. It keeps doing this in a loop. I have quite a few scheduled recordings, and when they start, everything goes back to normal until the next time. I don't know what to do since it's no longer under warranty. For such an expensive and sophisticated product, I've had nothing but problems from the start.
Thank you for clarifying if you are experiencing the same issue.

I unplugged it all night, and this morning I turned it back on. It goes through welcome, load, power off once, then the clock goes to zero, the timer rec blinks. The time is set, the timer rec stays red (programming), and everything is normal again. It's hard to understand. Are there any firmware updates to be done?
    Thank you

    Hello,

I just had the same issue with a Sony RDR-HX 725 recorder.

I realized that the only changes I made the day before were new recording schedules, two of which overlapped. For example:

    - I had a recording scheduled from Monday to Friday between 11:00 AM and 12:00 PM (every week)
    - I added another one, scheduled for Wednesday (one time only) between 10:30 AM and 11:30 AM

=> It should have indicated that this was not possible, but it accepted this schedule.
It was the next day that I noticed the recorder stuck in boot cycles "WELCOME - LOAD - LOGOFF".

So to regain control, I unplugged the recorder for an entire night and plugged it back in the next morning, then I deleted the overlapping schedules.

    For now, no more issues.

So if this can help you......

The documentation for the RDR-HX725 (towards the end) talks about electrostatic issues and recommends disconnecting the device from the power supply for about 24 hours in such cases: it works, BUT it doesn't prevent it from happening again and, in my experience, more and more frequently.

So, I installed a ground connection (due to the reference to electrostatics): an electrical wire attached to the device's chassis with one of the screws on the back panel and connected to the ground socket of the power strip or the wall outlet (of course, the electrical installation must comply with a "good" ground). Since I installed this seven weeks ago, there have been no issues, whereas it was crashing every month or even every ten days.

I don't know if it's the miracle solution, but it's worth trying, and I would like to hear experiences HERE.

    GOOD LUCK!

      Good evening,
has your thread resolved the issue?
because mine is experiencing the same anomaly.
      thank you.

No, I'm not sure at all that this setup (which can't do any harm) fixed my problem, but, inexplicably, it hasn't happened again for about nine months... Patience and length of time...

Back when it was happening, I would just unplug the device for at least twelve hours and after that, it would work again.

Good evening, I also have the same problem with a Sony RDR-HX725 player. The grounding wire solution didn't fix anything.
First malfunction after two and a half years, then again after a month, and now I have to unplug it for 12 to 24 hours every week. It's becoming a pain. I sent an email to Sony's customer service on their site but have not received a response to date. This must be a known issue for their service given the frequency of this problem!

No, I haven't made any progress, but after about two years of operation interrupted by these problems, I have no issues at all anymore, let whoever can understand!
