Hello,
I have a small problem gathering several VOB files into one while keeping the image and sound from a DVD. I know it's possible because a colleague has already done it, but I have complex files such as VTS_01_ and VTS_02_.
In reality, I have 2 folders: AUDIO_TS and VIDEO_TS
- In the AUDIO_TS folder, there is nothing
- In the VIDEO_TS folder, there are:
VIDEO_TS.BUP
VIDEO_TS.IFO
VIDEO_TS.VOB
VTS_01_0.BUP
VTS_01_0.IFO
VTS_01_0.VOB
VTS_01_1.VOB
VTS_01_2.VOB
VTS_01_3.VOB
VTS_01_4.VOB
VTS_02_0.BUP
VTS_02_0.IFO
VTS_02_0.VOB
VTS_02_1.VOB

I have NERO 9 and I would like to know how to merge all these files to create one (meaning that the concert should be playable all at once and not in 5 or 6 parts of 20 minutes... and I would like to keep the MAIN MENU (where one can choose to watch the concert in its entirety or a specific song)

Thank you for responding as soon as possible... I've been stuck for a few days
I look forward to your replies.
Configuration: Windows Vista

Hello, here I am again ;)

What taratata668 said about DVD Shrink is true. By reworking the DVD, you will lose the original interactive menu.
But since you have Nero, it is possible to create a new one (not as nice but still good) with the Nero Vision application.

Then, to get what you want, which is to have your concert on one side and the other, you will need to create sub-chapters within each of the two chapters (Titles). I have Nero 7, and this is possible, so I think you can also do it with Nero 9.
However, regarding the songs, I don't know how it works in original DVDs, but if I remember correctly, you can't create more than 10 chapters because VTS_01_1 (1 being the chapter, this number can only be between 0 and 9).
For more info, check this page, at least the beginning: http://forum.telecharger.01net.com/forum/high-tech/LOGICIELS/Video/tuto-edition-fichiers-sujet_227991_1.htm
You also have for the description of the content and structure of a DVD-Video:
    - https://www.figer.com/Publications/dvd.htm#structDVD

Now, in more detail, you will need some space on your hard drive, I think.

But before going further, how did you get the copy of the DVD on your hard drive?
I want to know this to see if I should guide you through Nero Shrink, which I think is the simplest, or through Nero, which should also be feasible.

With DVD Shrink, we will complete the reworking of your DVD Video to separate your concert from the four bonuses. This is to number the files distinctly so that their importation into NeroVision is easier.
But with NeroVision, we can also do this using the Merge Titles and/or Create Chapters buttons. It's even possible to go through the "editing table" by clicking on the Create a Movie button.
To rework a movie, see here: http://forum.telecharger.01net.com/forum/high-tech/LOGICIELS/Video/remaniement-video-fichiers-sujet_263642_1.htm

Once your project is ready, which may take some time, you need to make the Backup. I suggest doing it without compression, hence the needed free space on the hard drive.
Then you import the result into NeroVision, and in NeroVision, you will create a new menu. A large part of the work is done in the first add window to make chapters and sub-chapters. Then in the Menu window, you refine the menu to make it as appealing as possible. There are even ready-made menus, but you can create your own customized ones.
For the output project size, you choose as you want, I would take DVD-9. Then you write this new project back to the hard drive.

Finally, for burning, we will go back through DVD Shrink. This phase is not mandatory if you selected DVD-5 in Nero. Then you reopen this new project, save it as an ISO image. You install the ImgBurn software on your computer. And finally, you burn the Disk Image with ImgBurn.
I suggest burning on rewritable DVDs at first, if you have some, to see if it works.

If this seems unclear to you, it's not your fault; it's me explaining badly. I can also go into much more detail because here I explained the general method; then, you also need to search a bit on your own.

    A+

Forget my previous message which is rather vague. I'm leaving it as it contains useful information about the structure of a DVD-Video.

So, it’s not possible to keep the original menu while reworking the contents of the DVD-Video. If you change anything, you lose the menu.

    So you have two options:

    1) You keep the exact same DVD-Video but burn it onto a DVD-5 using DVD Shrink. This might be interesting because I didn’t understand your thing about direct access to the song of your choice.

    2) You rework the original DVD-Video by separating one side for the concert and the other for the bonuses. In this case, we will skip DVD Shrink for now because it's a bit complicated, a lot of manipulations to achieve the same end result, and we will only use NeroVision. Opt for DVD-9 so you can work without size concerns.

a- First, you will import the files VTS_01_0.VOB, VTS_01_1.VOB, VTS_01_2.VOB, VTS_01_3.VOB, and VTS_01_4.VOB that you will join using the button provided for that. There’s your first chapter (this is called a Title) created. Then you add the file VTS_02_1.VOB which should contain the 4 additional songs. There’s your second chapter created.
b- Now moving on to splitting each Title and sub-chapter.
We will start with Title two because it contains 4 songs. You click the button (Create chapters) and split your part into 4, one for each song.
However, for the concert itself, you will try to do the same, I don’t know if it’s possible for more than 10 chapters, probably it is but I don't know. If it’s feasible, there’s your concert split into each song.
Don’t forget to name what you do as you like.
    - Next, in the “Main Menu” window, I don’t quite remember, you create your menu. So you can either use an existing menu (Smart3D) or create your own personalized one. Click on the preview window on the left to bring up the possible change options. You can modify the font, set a background of your choice with music, choose buttons, and so on.
    - Finally, after verifying through the preview, we get to the burning step? If your project doesn’t exceed 4.7 GB, burning is possible after encoding; otherwise, you choose to write a folder on your hard drive. Personally, that’s the route I take, but everyone does as they wish.
IF you've written in a folder on the hard drive and your project exceeds 4.7 GB, then we go through DVD Shrink to compress its size (its weight in technical terms). For burning, save as an ISO image and burn with ImgBurn software, because under Vista, burning a project with Nero sometimes produces strange results.

There you go, I think I was clearer this time, at least I hope so.

    See you!

    Hello anthoboss13,

All your folders and files make up the structure of a DVD-Video. If you burn them as they are by creating a DVD-Video, you get a DVD like those in stores. However, when watching a DVD, the movie is not split into pieces, it plays continuously.
Apparently in your DVD, you have the concert going from the file VTS_01_1.VOB to VTS_01_4.VOB, and then you should have bonuses with the file VTS_02_1.VOB.

Basically, what you want to do is keep your DVD-Video, at least the concert part, like the original but by burning it onto a standard 4.7 Go DVD. DVD Shrink should allow you to do that.

Afterwards, it is always possible to cut your movie differently with the Nero-Vision application (or DVD Shrink and the Reauthor function), for example, to create chapters for each of the songs.

Unless you want to compress your video to AVI, but in that case, you won't have a menu. For that, you have software like Dr DivX, FarUse, or AutoGordianKnot among others that can do it.

I will answer you more specifically this evening, unless others do before, as I am at work and don’t have time to develop further.

    Sincerely

Thank you for getting back to me; I look forward to your detailed explanations this evening.
I have more or less understood what needs to be done.
Indeed, it is correct, there is the live concert VTS_01_ and the bonus VTS_02_
I would like to know how to obtain at least the live DVD without interruptions in one single file (and without converting it to divx, xvid, mpeg, or any other format) while keeping the menu where you can choose to go directly to a specific song (which works on my computer even though I haven't burned it yet).

I would also like to know if it is still possible to include the bonus on the same DVD (but in a different folder of course, not immediately following the concert) while also keeping the dedicated menu for the bonus.
Indeed, the bonus actually contains 4 additional songs.

I look forward to your response eagerly.

Hello. VOB files being MPEG 2, originating from DVD-Video, can usually but not always be processed with software like SUPER, MediaCoder, which convert them to DivX/XviD/MPEG, DVD Shrink if your movie folder has the structure of a DVD-Video, or Nero and other similar paid software.

With DVD Shrink, if your DVD-Video has a menu, remaking it will cause you to lose that menu.
In any case, whatever software you choose, I don't think you'll be able to keep the original menu, but I could be wrong.

All software is available for download on this page: https://www.commentcamarche.net/telecharger/ 7 video

    Best regards
