Hello, I have a Canon Pixma MP 150 with a built-in scanner. The cartridge is almost new, and it was working perfectly until an hour ago. Then I tried to scan a black and white document directly with the printer, and since then it shows an error message on the LCD screen (E 3), and I can't do anything.
I can't check the cartridge because it is stuck at the back
, and the diagnosis on the PC indicates that there is a paper jam, but I've checked and there is absolutely nothing. What should I do? I'm working on important documents, and I'm stuck. Please help me. Thank you in advance.

Good evening everyone, I faced the same problem as you, the E followed by a number, most often 2, 3, or even 5, and well I just fixed this situation.
I'll share what I did:
First, I took an A4 sheet and then used my (wonderful) origamist skills as follows ;p, Fold the sheet in half lengthwise, then again in half the other way, you then get a...piece of paper that's about 10.5 cm by 15 cm... do you have the same? fantastic! Let's move on to the next step :) .
Then turn off your (fabulous) printer that you love so much, and slide your new paper accessory into the back opening of the infernal machine (we turned it off because otherwise, it's painful :s), push it in well and turn on your printer, until the little paper is caught by the printer and spits out at the front!.
And there.....Surprise, I discovered a candy wrapper and a match... who would have thought. ^^
Now for those who didn't appreciate my humor, here's something more serious ^^ (you can't please everyone)
Take a normal A4 sheet of paper, fold it in half and then in half again, turn off your printer, hold your piece of paper firmly and insert it into the paper tray at the back of the printer, turn it on and make sure the piece of paper is pulled into the printer, retrieve the piece of paper at the front, and you're done.
Hoping to have helped most of you, and apologizing to those for whom my explanation was useless or incomprehensible ^^ (or both ^^ )... Have a nice evening =)
P.S: if this helped you, feel free to share it on other forums, but do leave my name, I was the one who found the trick ;p
Sincerely, Loïc (16 years old and already talented =p=p=p ).

Hello, well I have exactly the same problem. My MP150 printer was working perfectly and since I removed the empty black ink cartridge, the scanner no longer works. It shows E and 5 flashing. However, I don't see the connection between the ink cartridges and the scanner function. Please help me ^^. Thank you.
Hello,
can someone tell me how to change the used ink tank on the Canon Pixma MP150 printer because it no longer wants to print or scan.
Thank you.

The error E5 means that the cartridge needs to be replaced. Indeed, I use refilled cartridges that are half the price. Canon and other brands look unfavorably upon cartridge refilling. They trap their electronic circuit of the print head in order to force users to buy new cartridges, hence the prohibitive error E5.
For the other errors E2, E3... just press the black or color print button and it will work again.

Sorry, the problem is resolved, but I have no idea what I did. Anyway, the main thing is that it works. However, if anyone has an idea of what this error 3 on the Canon MP 150 could be, please pass the information along. Have a good day, everyone.
Hi, same here, E3 all the time and the printer is completely empty. I sent an email to Canon, I'm waiting for a response.
Yes, they told me I should contact customer service, which charges at least €100... for a machine that costs €79...
So, Canon is in the trash and I bought an Epson.
Canon sent me an email asking if I was happy with their customer service, I haven't taken the time to respond yet, but it's going to be a harsh reply...

Yes, they told me that I had to contact a customer service, which charges a minimum of €100... for a machine that costs €79...

Don't dream, at Epson it will be the same or worse; I work in an office equipment service company and Epson is truly a disaster with their ridiculous ink. Moreover, if customer service charges you €100, it's simply because the time the person will spend fixing your multifunction printer and handling all the paperwork, etc... it should cost even more than that, this error is 99% due to the user so it's logical that customer service gets paid for the repair.
To get back to this famous E3, just look when you open your multifunction printer you have 4 white rollers pressed by springs on a gray shaft.
Behind the one on the right you see a detector mask arm, you will likely find a piece of paper, a thumbtack or I don't know what else that usually has fallen into the printer through the paper feed tray; if it's really stuck and you can't dislodge it by turning the printer upside down and shaking it a bit, gently leverage under the support plate of the 2 rollers on the right and try to extract whatever is blocking the detector from there, otherwise, it's disassembly of the printer, there's no choice!!

Thank you very much. I also had the E3 error
I disassembled my printer (MP210) and managed to remove what was blocking it (a rubber band). It was barely visible but not accessible without disassembly.
I will add some information for the following ones:
1. To disassemble, remove the white plastic edges on the sides, then the black edges also on the sides. This allows you to remove the scanner and see more clearly. You can finally remove the black cover on top (the one marked B and C with the diagrams for removing the cartridges. In fact, I didn't take it off completely but unscrewed part of it to lift it.
2. The rubber band was stuck under the sensor (a small removable black bar about 1cm located a bit behind the second white roller from the right)
Good luck.

I confirm, I had the same symptoms. I took it apart and surprise, a little wire really well hidden. As a precaution, do not leave your young children near a printer, it's always tempting to put lots of things in it. In any case, thank you. I spent 2 hours on it but at least my printer is working again!
OK after having folded many reams of paper and also having a whole yard of little ducks
here is perhaps, I say perhaps, a solution for your PIXMA 150
First your MP is out of service
2 remove your USB cable
3 reconnect the MP to service
4 on the left side of the control panel you have a button with a screwdriver and a pair of pliers
perform all the maintenance operations by pressing it "except for number 1"
But for everything else do it "follow the procedure there is an A that appears press on color if you have it then on black or color as you want
and so on until the display shows 1
5 of course MP out of service reconnect the USB cable
And if all goes well it works the E2 error has disappeared
Let me know if it works for you
Sincerely, your Pigniouf

The joys of computing and everything related to it ....
An E-2 code. I really don't know why, there's a bug yet everything seems perfect.
No access to the scanner anymore ... no report but well, read the first sentence of this message ... The joys ....
I used the "screwdriver" button, pressed 2-3 other buttons ...
It started working ... without really knowing why .... and there you go, everything is functioning.
Thank you, but I still don’t know why ...
That's exactly what I was saying: The joys of comp....
Thank you.

Thank you oudart. For those who have the E2 error all the time, with a piece of paper that goes all by itself during the machine's startup.
If the paper folded in 4, passed several times, doesn't work.
I advise you, with the machine off and the cover open, to gently pull the cartridge carriage to the left which is hidden all the way to the right. Be careful to grip it with one finger above the cartridges, if you grab it by the black cartridge it will pull out and that becomes frustrating.
Underneath, it's full of ink, which drips down under the machine. You need to clean it with alcohol or another suitable solvent on a pad or absorbent cloth (guaranteed black hands).
But once you manage to get the number 1 to display, and not the E2, don't think that it's cured, and I advise you to perform all the maintenance operations as indicated by oudart: press the button with the two small tools, then the white diamond button that is used to make black-and-white photocopies. Go through the entire series.
After doing all that, it should be much better.
Thanks to everyone who posted tips. Note that refilling with a syringe works very well on MP 150 (big savings!), you can find ink especially at Auchan, but you have to be careful with the amounts you put in the cartridge, it does make a mess in the machine if you put too much, and then you have issues like E2.

Hello, I have a printer of the brand Canon Pixma MP160. I lost the installation CD. Can anyone help me? I searched on the internet but couldn't find anything. Please, if you have any information, help me. Thank you.
Thank you, Loic, the neck of the folded sheet works very well, and I found a hair elastic stuck under the rollers, hello little genius!!!
Hello, I have a Canon Pixma MP160 printer and it says that my print heads are misaligned. I have aligned the print heads, but my black cartridge still doesn't work.
I lost my maintenance manual, so if someone could help me, that would be nice!
Thank you in advance.

Hallelujah!! A little perseverance! A lot of nonsense and voila, it works!! Bye bye E 5!! Yay!!
I used the origami solution but nothing at all... so I unplugged then disconnected the USB cable! Then I fiddled with everything! At first, I couldn’t use the key and after removing the paper and taking out and replacing the E3 cartridges, the wrench key unlocked and I messed with all the buttons!! Good luck to all of you who might encounter this, but there’s no need to call a technician if it’s out of warranty... just do a lot of nonsense :)
May the force be with you!!

Hello, well I am in the same situation as you, the paper jam message (E 3) keeps appearing even though there is no paper, I’m going to lose my temper!!!
Help, if anyone knows what to do...
Thank you!!!

Try to get your "credit card" format sheet passed everywhere, because otherwise, I really don't see it :s
Always the same, it's not possible to access the menu with the screwdriver during an E3 error. Apparently, nothing can be done!
What's really ironic is that the scanner doesn't work now!! Long live the scanner-printer combo..
Anyway, if anyone has any updates, I'm all ears!
Thanks

Well, I just did everything you recommended. I unplugged the USB cable, I passed a sheet through, I looked for a piece of paper or something else to the right of the print rollers, but I didn’t find anything. The E5 error still appears. What should I do now?
Hello,
everyone, I also have a problem with my MP 150, it's an error that says: E42
if someone could help me?

Hello,
I also had this problem but I found the best solution.
I took apart the printer and found some junk inside that the little ones had put in there.
Taking it apart is easy; you just need a screwdriver and make sure to look carefully inside because there are some screws that are hidden, and above all, don’t force anything.
If you’re not handy with this kind of stuff, ask someone in your family who is a bit of a handyman.
You’ll see it’s not complicated.

I tried your thing and incredible, it works!!!!!
Thank you
Does anyone have another solution for this error E3, as I don't have any candy wrappers or matchsticks (!!) stuck inside, and having tried this tip, the error hasn't gone away..
Thank you
Hallelujah, our (fabulous) printer is working... It won't end up in the trash and won't mess with our nerves anymore.
