Hello,

I'm explaining my problem, I'm currently sharing a room on a campus and the setup is really poor. There's only one RJ45 socket in the room while there are two of us sleeping in there.

My roommate and I decided to buy a double RJ45 adapter (this type of product: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Double-Adaptor-Ethernet-Cat5e-Splitter/dp/B000XRODTE).

The problem that arises: identification issue and therefore no internet connection on either my PC or my roommate's.

However, the signal is definitely present...

Does anyone have an idea?

Thanks in advance!

Configuration: Windows Vista / Safari 535.11

    Hi,
    who advised you to buy that?
    invest in a small switch instead, it will work much better.

    Hello,

    For this to work, you would also need a splitter on the other side where your socket is connected, as well as 2 network cables; otherwise, it won't work. If you can't access the arrival room where your socket is, it would be better to buy a small 5-port hub or switch where you can plug in your computers, and then it will work. I agree with brupala.

    Okay, so basically I bought this for nothing...

    It's the seller in the info store who told me it could work but that it was better to get a switch. I already knew that, but between 10€ and 50€ for a student, there's a big difference!

    Anyway, thanks, all that's left is to try to get a refund :)

    See you later++

      You can find small switches for 10-15 euros.
