Hello,
I recently created a Gmail account. To quickly access my mail, I
created a desktop shortcut following the usual procedure: right-click on the desktop...
new,... etc...
My problem: when I click on the shortcut, the homepage appears,
so I have to log in before accessing my mailbox, even though the URL of the mailbox is the one indicated on the shortcut.
Could a knowledgeable internet user tell me how to create a shortcut that allows me to access my mailbox directly without going through the homepage?
Is there a problem with password saving in Firefox?
Thank you in advance for your advice
Configuration: Windows 7 / Firefox 11.0

Good evening,
Thank you for your response
I have indeed created the Gmail shortcut, except that the icon that appears is not the small red stylized envelope but the Google symbol (the little fox surrounding the earth).. The "change icon" function does exist, but there is no
other choice than that of the Google symbol.
As for system restoration, I ran a "scannow" on the recommendation of an internet user, which yielded nothing. In the documentation dealing with the subject, I did not find any particular procedure. I simply noted to try to do a restoration in safe mode.
I haven't done it yet, but I prefer to wait; there's no rush unless .....
Thanks again for your help, and have a good evening.-
Hello;
To change the Gmail launch icon you placed on your desktop, you need to do the following:
Right-click on the icon / Properties / Change icon / Browse / Local Disk C:/ / Windows / System32 / Shell32.dll
When you're in System32, type shell32.dll in the small window (File name) and a window will open with a whole selection of icons. There are other icon files: for example Imageres.dll (instead of typing Shell32.dll, you type Imageres.dll and you'll get another selection of icons).
We'll look at system restoration together when you're ready.
Best regards.

Hello;
Thank you for checking out this link or this one
You can also directly display the Gmail quick launch by placing an icon in the Firefox quick launch bar. Right-click on it, then customize, and in the window that opens, look for the envelope icon (Gmail) and drag it into the Firefox launch bar. When you click on this icon, you will have direct access to your Gmail homepage after entering your credentials
If you can't find this envelope in the Firefox window, you can add the "Toolbar Button 1.0" extension to Firefox (an addon that adds functions to the browser) by going to this link

Have you managed to solve your system restore problem?
Thank you for returning to the Forum to see whether it is resolved or not
