Hello, I'm posting on this forum because for several weeks I've had a problem with my D-Link DCS-2120: I can't reach its RTSP stream from behind the router...
I've opened the two HTTP and RTSP ports indicated in the camera's admin interface, but nothing works... So I went in search of a further solution and discovered that two other ports are configurable through the config.ini file in the /etc/conf.d directory of the camera, I opened them on the router, still nothing... I've tried modifying the four available ports and opening those ports on the router... Still nothing...
So, after that, I'm still looking for a solution, but there's nothing available about it online, no one seems to have a problem with this camera... Am I really the only idiot on earth who can't get it to work or am I just a poor technician who ended up with a camera that's totally dreadful to configure?!
All this to say that if someone has a brilliant idea to suggest, I would be very grateful...
And thank you in advance...
Olivier, who wonders if a good whack with a hammer wouldn't solve the problem once and for all... ^_^°

Hello
I just acquired this webcam but I can't help you with your particular issue.
However, I have a problem too, and it's much more basic: I can't connect it to Wi-Fi!
I've already configured tons of mobile phones and PDAs via my Ovislink router, but nothing works this time...
Have you encountered this problem that you managed to work around with a trick? (I should point out that I don't use UPNP)
Thank you in advance for your help.

Hello Nibin,
The RTSP stream works via port 554 (tcp + udp).
Therefore, you just need to open the corresponding ports on the router and redirect them to the camera's IP address.
To check the functionality, there are three options:
- PC: VLC
- PDA: Platform4 Player
- GSM: Real player
You need to fix the camera's IP address to match the redirection.
What router are you using? What bandwidth? What firmware?
Have you consulted the manufacturer's support?
Best regards,
Stedy

Hello,
I understand that by default with a single D-Link DCS-2120 camera there should be 6 traffic types:
1- HTTP over TCP/UDP on port 80 (or 800 if there are issues)
2- RTSP over TCP on port 554
3- AudioRTP over UDP on port 5556
4- AudioRTCP over UDP on port 5557
5- VideoRTP over UDP on port 5558
6- VideoRTCP over UDP on port 5559
I'm not sure if I need to open that many virtual servers in a router for it to function properly, as the D-Link documentation, while extensive and multilingual, is not clear to me.
I assume I shouldn't have to read the source files of the firmware to understand how to install it perfectly, and I hope that D-Link will soon provide more detailed and clearer help files...

I specify that everything works when connected via Ethernet
I set the IP to static, defined the WEP key in 64 bits hex, declared the MAC ID to my router
but nothing, nada, the LED turns ... pink (neither blue nor red)

Hello, hello, well regarding the Wi-Fi, I haven't had the chance to test it yet, but if you've tried everything in the camera's config interface (by typing http://x.x.x.x in the address bar of your web browser) and nothing works, don't lose hope. Personally, I still haven't been able to get the 3G working, and now I have a problem that I didn't have with other cameras of the same model, which is the following: if I try to set a fixed IP address on a different subnet than 192.168.0.x, the camera won't start anymore, I have to do a factory reset... However, if it's assigned an IP address automatically by a DHCP, everything works fine... But it's impossible to tell it to always use that address, otherwise nothing works...
So, I haven't made much progress either, but it feels good to know we’re not the only ones struggling! ^^

Hi
Well, I finally did a factory reset and set it up bit by bit, and everything works: fixed IP, wifi, everything
Actually, I had set everything up all at once, and it was a bit too much for this little machine
Everything is working perfectly now, and regarding 3G, I'm waiting for my next mobile phone to test it (N95!!!)

Hello,
I also have a basic problem which consists of connecting my camera to a LIVEBOX Inventel.
I connect the camera via ethernet to the livebox, it obtains an IP address and I can configure the camera through the administration interface.
Once the configuration is complete and saved in the camera, I put the LIVEBOX in association mode and restart the camera.
The connection between the camera and the livebox does not take place. Moreover, I can't find it in the list of associated devices.
Can anyone help me?
Thank you.

Hello, I just read that you've had problems with the IP camera DCS-2120. Currently, I'm having the same issue regarding the network cable disconnection. With the cable, the camera is recognized on the network, and I can view the image. But as soon as I remove the cable, there’s no signal, and the LED freezes on pink. I'm desperate, what is the solution? Thank you very much for your help.
Well, you have to follow the instructions in the manual to the letter :)
Personally, I set the camera's IP statically, no DHCP ... it's working great! :)

Hello,
I’m struggling with an IP camera (D-Link dsc 2120). It is connected to a router (D-Link DIR-100, address 192.168.0.1) which is connected to a livebox (192.168.1.1). The camera’s IP address (fixed) is 192.168.0.102
The camera works locally on all PCs connected to the router.
I have opened ports 2024 and 554 used by the camera on the router.
Do I also need to open them on the livebox?
As for following the instructions "to the letter," they are so brief! Anyway, I can’t find the same configuration as mine!
Thank you for your responses and have a great day,
Éric

I'm answering myself, this can be useful for others.
My D-link router is not really made to work properly with the Livebox.
You need to recover the WAN address of the router.
You have to open the TCP and UDP ports from 1 to 65535 corresponding to the fixed IP of the router on the Livebox.
There you go, I thank myself and wish myself a good day...

To respond to ben59670,
I just acquired the DCS-2120 and I had the same issue, but here is the solution (at least for me), the settings are indeed done via the RJ45 port (as well as firmware updates), but for the Wi-Fi part to work, you need to reboot the camera after removing the RJ cable so that it switches to the Wi-Fi network (make sure to properly configure the Wi-Fi network - IP address - mask - gateway - key) to be in sync with your network.
As for the RTSP part, I don't have a solution yet (but the ports are correctly redirected on the router to the camera).

bulldozer, I was responding to emarie in my previous post
as for your problem, you need to proceed step by step, first wired, then unplug and it should work
for that, you need to be sure of your wifi settings obviously, and personally, I'm not on dhcp but on a static ip ...
it's really good equipment!
PS: at first, I did several hard resets before finally succeeding :)

Hello,
I am experiencing exactly the same problem as others. My camera works perfectly with RJ45 both locally and over the internet through my router, but I cannot get it to work via WiFi; I have this pink LED showing up.
I have tried as you said to configure all the steps one by one and I always have the same symptoms.
My configuration is as follows: DCS-2120 Camera, 3Com WiFi Access Point: WEP 128bit Security, Zyxel Zywall Router (a nice little mix).
For those of you who have succeeded, what is your configuration? And during the setup, did you do everything with the assistant on PC or with the Internet browser?
