Wifi: installation issues with D-Link -G122 keys

Good evening,
I am trying to install a D-Link DWL-G122 wifi key. The router is installed and working properly, but the key doesn't detect anything; the utility is red, and on the key, the act LED lights up green intermittently while the other one remains off.

I am using XP Home, and I've tried XP Pro SP2 and XP Pro SP1.
Have you ever installed this damn key?

Thank you for your help.

    Good evening everyone

I have a small problem with my D-Link DWL-G122 WiFi key. I can connect to the network, but I cannot connect to the internet. If anyone can help me fix this issue, I would be very grateful.

    Thank you in advance.

    Hello everyone,

My problem is identical to the first post of this topic, the key is in my opinion dead! I can't do anything on my side while it used to work very well; overheating?! possible....but it's done, it's dead....

I would like to know what’s up with pam; okay sorry this topic is a bit old but still....

    Best regards,
    André

    Hello,
What does the driver installation result in? Updates are available on the D-Link website on the USB key page, under technical support.
If the driver installation is fine, it's a configuration issue. The key must be configured exactly like the router (channel number, SSID, encryption type, and key must be identical).

Hi, I have the exact same problem as our friend who started the post.
But when you talk about the configuration of the G122 that needs to be the same as the router's (SSID, etc.), I agree, but how do you access the configuration menu of this famous G122???

      Thanks

Do you have a D near the clock?

      So that means 2 things:
      1. your USB key is installed
      2. it is not configured correctly.

So you right-click on it, select wireless network, and fill in the different fields with the same data as your access point.

      Hello,
uninstall the D-Link utility to keep only the drivers. Then connect by clicking on the two little screens at the bottom right next to the clock.

I had the same problem with the Neuf box. When you clicked on the "wireless network" D at the bottom right, you searched for the Neuf box, looked behind your box for its exact name and WiFi code. In wireless network search, select your Neuf box to ensure it is in the "profile" box, then click on properties and then on authentication configuration at the top, enter the WiFi code. However, make sure in advanced settings that you have the same channel for the key as for the Neuf (you can find it in the internet interface that allows you to manage your Neuf box). My box is on channel 11 but the key was on 6.

I don't know if this will solve your problem because I still couldn’t connect to the box, but after trying to configure my box via WiFi, it worked.
Now I have another issue (which I think is related because I didn't have the problem before) my computer freezes sometimes, it doesn't respond anymore, and I have to manually turn it off and reboot. It doesn't happen when my key is disconnected.

Can someone tell me if there is an issue between my D-Link key and Windows XP?

Hello, I also have the same problem: my Wi-Fi key detects the networks from the Neuf box, but I can't enter the WPA-PSK identifier because the only types of keys offered by the key configurator are SSCI and hexadecimal...
    Could someone please help me?

Good evening, I also had problems with the D-Link DWL-G122 key; when I tried to connect, nothing happened, no network! (Well, occasionally it would connect for a few minutes and then nothing again). I tried uninstalling the provided software (the problem is that the drivers vanish with it!) so I went to the Link FTP server (ftp.dlink.fr) to get the drivers without the software, but still nothing. After modifying the device manager (removing power saving on the USB ports, etc.) and testing it on 3 PCs for a week, I decided to try another one (exactly the same model), and to my surprise, it works!!!! I kept the other one just in case; I disassembled it out of curiosity, and there were some strange things on the printed circuit (which I scratched off), since then it’s been much more stable but it’s still not great... (at the moment I’m writing, it’s almost been 30 minutes trying to connect!). If anyone has a bit of knowledge in electronics to tell me where this might come from (because the components look fine), it would be really nice.
    Thanks in advance
PS: I forgot to mention that the key that worked "strangely" was actually working perfectly in ad hoc mode (but I want to use it to connect to an AP). I also want to specify that my AP is working perfectly fine, the problem comes from the key but which component is malfunctioning...? So if anyone has experienced this issue and managed to resolve it, please share your knowledge!

Hello, I also have a problem with this USB key G 122. It connects and then disconnects one second later. I have my Alice router with built-in Wi-Fi; it doesn't work. What should I do? I've tried everything. If anyone can help me, thank you.

    Hello,
I have a similar problem with this key; the connection only appears for a few seconds before disconnecting and reconnecting for the same duration... beyond that, I can't get the internet on this machine. Thank you for helping a novice.

As usual, DLink prefers to sell new WiFi connection devices rather than provide drivers so that they can work under Vista. For my part, I’ve been advised for months to perform the online update! Convenient when the USB key or router allows, for example, connecting to the Internet... DLink is laughing at everyone.

Just like you, I had the same problem. When I was connected, I didn't have internet access. If you have any hypothesis, let me know! ufosteph@hotmail.fr

      Hi Lilie,
do you already have the installation driver for your USB stick, and what is its model? When I bought mine, I had to download it; here's the link in case you don't have it, for model G-122: https://eu.dlink.com/fr/fr/?go=gNTyP9CnptFMIC4AStFCF834mptYIe5TTtv3LO6/yAW0XZ8/xOB5eMhla+Vp6zQvEz2onGQTo4UEc72ZoMyATTFl34qoGPKgXYP+pmsLmclGH/0AK8CK7hqCsXbebNiZfL80qBorpNYXrGlFK9Kon2z1hiI=

Indeed, I just bought this wifi key and the Vista drivers provided on the CD with the key do not work.
The installation seems to go well, but it's impossible to connect to the internet afterwards.
I reinstalled with the drivers provided on the Dlink website and that fixed the problem.
A good hour wasted fiddling with my neufbox config, etc., when this installation should have been done in 5 minutes with a proper driver supplied on the CD... "Vista certified" they put on the box... Shameful Dlink!
        Well, it's resolved!

    Hi,

Is it possible to use it as a transmitter? Connect it to a USB port on the PC to be able to connect to it with a wifi phone, right?
