I can no longer see their Facebook profile!

Hello,
I have a friend on Facebook whom I really like, but lately, we've been rather distant... This morning, I want to send her a message via Facebook Messenger. I still have the option to write to her by picking up our old conversation, but in this one, her name appears in black (it's no longer a link), of course, her photo has disappeared, and when I hover my cursor over it, I see "nomdemonamie@facebook.com."
I can no longer access her profile, we're not friends anymore, and I can't find her in friend search.
I immediately thought she had blocked me... But if that were the case, I shouldn't still be able to write to her, right?!
I don't understand... I've left her a few messages, but they've gone unanswered; I even wonder if she still receives them.
Does anyone know what might have happened?
