How is it possible that the wireless connection of my mini laptop is limited to a maximum speed of 72 Mbps when it has an N wireless card?

After doing some research on the subject, it turns out that this situation is due to the type of network card equipped in the laptop.
Indeed, to achieve connections higher than 72 Mbit/s, the network card must support dual-channel mode at 20 and 40 MHz frequencies.

This explains why some PCs or laptops are limited to 72 Mbit/s while others can operate up to 150 or 300 Mbit/s.

It depends on the distance to the access point and any potential interference. In any case, with 72 Mbps, you are well above your ADSL connection, so you shouldn't have any issues.

I doubt that distance or interference is the cause, because even close to the access point it’s the same.
I agree that 72 Mbit/s is sufficient, but I’ve already connected other laptops that reached speeds of 130 to 280 Mbit/s on the same network.
