How to turn off a PSP?

Hello,

I have a Fat Psp, and the problem is that when I "turn it off" by pressing the button on the right towards power, I realize that it only goes into sleep mode!!
This causes it to drain the battery completely!
Is there a way to turn it off completely?

You need to slide the "POWER" button (as if to put it in sleep mode) but hold it for a few seconds; it should turn off.
