Hi!
Open your Windows Media Player, then go to the tools menu, options, file types, and check everything.

Hello everyone
I have the same problem. I can't play wmv files. Actually, I have sound but no image. I installed WMP 10; I checked all file types in tools, nothing. I installed VLC, still nothing. If you have any ideas, please be nice and let me know!!!!
Anyway, thanks to everyone who is helping us on this great site.

Hello everyone!
I know this discussion is getting old, but I also have a problem with reading ".avi.wmv" files. Some sites say they are viruses, but I still don't know, especially since all the recent videos are in this format...
(I've tried VLC and other players, but nothing works)
Thanks to those who take the time to reply!

Hi, sorry to crash in, but I have a real problem reading wmv and mpeg files. My player (Windows Media 10) crashes every time I try to play a file of this type. The only type of file it can play is avi. Thank you for your future or present help.
Hello, I had the same issue with .wmv files, I'm on Windows XP and I simply updated Windows Media... and now it works without any problem... you should also know that .wmv files are not necessarily X-rated movies... for my part, I receive emails with .wmv attachments, they are movies of course, but of all kinds.
Hello everyone, I don't know how but I can view wmv files with Windows Media Player. I can see them on my laptop screen but not on my 19" screen. Does anyone have a tip because I don't get it?
Thanks everyone.
Thanks everyone.
Sorry LYS55, but I don't have any leads for you...
However, for anyone still wondering, regarding .wmv or .avi.wmv files, these are files that require a license to be opened... It must be the new workaround for illegal downloads. I tried buying a license for a song, it works, but only on the computer, not on an mp3 (makes sense, the license is registered on the computer...) Anyway...
The thing we need to figure out now is the workaround against these extensions... Maybe it’s possible to create a license generator, or I don’t know what, I don’t know anything about it... But the only thing you have left to do to download good movies without crashing your media player is to only download movies that end with .avi ... That's it
Musically,
Dolcie
